Molecular Amplification and Cell Culturing Efficiency for Enteroviruses’ Detection in Cerebrospinal Fluids of Algerian Patients Suffering from Meningitis

open access: yesViruses
Enteroviruses (EVs) represent a major cause of viral meningitis, being responsible for nearly 1 billion infections each year worldwide. Several techniques were developed to obtain better diagnostic results of EV infections.

Species-specific Real Time-PCR primers/probe systems to identify fish parasites of the genera Anisakis, Pseudoterranova and Hysterothylacium (Nematoda: Ascaridoidea) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Ascaridoid nematodes belonging to the genera Anisakis and Pseudoterranova are heteroxenous parasites, involving marine mammals as definitive hosts in their life-cycles, whereas crustaceans (krill), fish and squids acting as intermediate/paratenic hosts.

Basroparib inhibits YAP‐driven cancers by stabilizing angiomotin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Basroparib, a selective tankyrase inhibitor, suppresses Wnt signaling and attenuates YAP‐driven oncogenic programs by stabilizing angiomotin. It promotes AMOT–YAP complex formation, enforces cytoplasmic YAP sequestration, inhibits YAP/TEAD transcription, and sensitizes YAP‐active cancers, including KRAS‐mutant colorectal cancer, to MEK inhibition.

Polo-like kinase 4 controls centriole duplication but does not directly regulate cytokinesis. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Centrioles organize the centrosome, and accurate control of their number is critical for the maintenance of genomic integrity. Centrioles duplicate once per cell cycle, and duplication is coordinated by Polo-like kinase 4 (Plk4).

Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...

Exploring Life Detection on Mars: Understanding Challenges in DNA Amplification in Martian Regolith Analogue After Fe Ion Irradiation

open access: yesLife
The search for life beyond Earth currently hinges on the detection of biosignatures that are indicative of current or past life, with terrestrial life being the sole known example.

Mechanism of Gene Amplification via Yeast Autonomously Replicating Sequences

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2015
The present investigation was aimed at understanding the molecular mechanism of gene amplification. Interplay of fragile sites in promoting gene amplification was also elucidated.

The dynamics of gene expression changes in a mouse model of oral tumorigenesis may help refine prevention and treatment strategies in patients with oral cancer. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
A better understanding of the dynamics of molecular changes occurring during the early stages of oral tumorigenesis may help refine prevention and treatment strategies.

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

SMAD5 Gene Expression, Rearrangements, Copy Number, Amplification at Fragile Site FRA5C in Human Hepatocellular Carcinoma

open access: yesNeoplasia: An International Journal for Oncology Research, 2003
Signaling by the transforming growth factor (TGF)family members is transduced from the cell surface to the nucleus by the Smad group of intracellular proteins. Because we detected alterations on the long arm of chromosome 5, we examined the status of the
