Reiteration Frequency of Haemoglobin Genes in the Duck
Nature New Biology, 1972Hybridization between duck DNA and duck haemoglobin mRNA shows that there is little or no reiteration of the haemoglobin ...

Estimation of Gene Frequencies in the MN System
Vox Sanguinis, 1968Summary. Negro and Caucasian samples typed with anti‐M, N, S, s, M1, Us, Hu, He, Sj, and Tm indicate at least 14 and perhaps more than 26 alleles at the MNS locus, for which a notation is proposed. Gene frequencies are estimated by maximum likelihood, using the ALLTYPE computer program.

The theory of gene frequencies
1976Micro-evolution consists of change in the population either to fit it to a new place or time in a changing environment, or to improve its success in a constant environment. The modifications which take place are genetic. Sewall Wright pointed out in an article written in 1949 that ‘the elementary evolutionary process in a reasonably large homogeneous ...

Reiteration Frequency of Duck Haemoglobin Genes
Nature New Biology, 1973BECAUSE of the large DNA content of the eukaryotic genome1,2 and the existence of reiterated DNA sequences3,4, it has been thought that the DNA sequences which specify protein structure are present in many copies per genome. The idea is not immediately compatible with the simple dominance relationships which alleles at many genetic loci show. A special

Geographic Variation in Human Gene Frequencies
1983A major reference for the analysis of geographic variation in human gene frequencies is the tabulation compiled by Mourant et al. (1976). It provided also the stimulus for developing quantitative methods of displaying and testing gene frequency distributions (Piazza et al. 1981a).

On the Effects of Genetic Counselling on Gene Frequencies
Human Heredity, 1970It has been suggested that genetic counselling and therapeutic abortion can lead to increases in the frequencies of autosomal genes determining recessive diseases.

Mutant gene frequencies in cats of Cyprus
Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 1972Three areas of the island of Cyprus have been sampled for frequency of nine mutant genes among the domestic cat population. The significance of the observed frequencies are discussed with particular reference to the existence of world-wide clines for O (orange) and t (b) (blotched tabby).

Equilibrium frequencies of α-globin genes
Journal of Theoretical Biology, 1983A mathematical model has been developed to study the mechanism of the maintenance of variable numbers of alpha-globin genes in human populations. The model incorporates both selection and unequal crossing-over. The selection is formulated so that a homozygous individual with a double deletion is lethal and a heterozygous individual with a deletion or ...
