Dissimilarity of barley powdery mildew resistances Lomerit and Heils Hanna

open access: yesCzech Journal of Genetics and Plant Breeding, 2011
The resistance Heils Hanna (HH) was postulated in several tens of 471 previously tested winter barley cultivars. In this paper, new tests on 29 of these cultivars are reported. Thirty-two reference isolates of Blumeria graminis f.sp.

Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

Multiple patho-phenotyping and molecular analysis to characterize wide-spectrum durable leaf rust resistance in wheat collections from India

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology
Wheat leaf rust, caused by Puccinia triticina (Pt), is a globally prevalent fungal disease that causes significant economic loss. Cultivar resistance remains a cornerstone of the management of this pathogen. This study evaluated 86 Indian wheat (Triticum

Molecular mapping of leaf rust resistance gene LrL224 in Chinese wheat cultivar L224-3

open access: yesCzech Journal of Genetics and Plant Breeding, 2018
Leaf rust, caused by Puccinia triticina, is a major wheat disease worldwide. The chinese wheat cultivar L224-3 showed high resistance to most of P. triticina pathotypes in the seedling and adult stage.

Molecular Markers and Postulation Study of Leaf Rust Resistance Genes in Various Egyptian Wheat Cultivars

open access: yesBiotechnology Journal International, 2017
The current investigation was carried out at seedling stage under greenhouse condition to: (1) postulate leaf rust resistance genes in ten Egyptian spring wheat cultivars at seedling stage and (2) Verify the presence of resistance genes in the selected cultivars using specific molecular markers linked to leaf rust resistance genes.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Genome-wide analysis of CpG islands in some livestock genomes and their relationship with genomic features

open access: yesCzech Journal of Animal Science, 2016
CpG islands (CGIs) are an important group of CpG dinucleotides in the guanine- and cytosine-rich regions as they harbour functionally relevant epigenetic loci for whole genome studies.

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.
