Techniques of multivariate pattern analysis (MVPA) can be used to decode the discrete experimental condition or a continuous modulator variable from measured brain activity during a particular trial. In functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), trial-

Non-Convex Penalized Estimation of Count Data Responses via Generalized Linear Model (GLM)
This study provided a non-convex penalized estimation procedure via Smoothed Clipped Absolute Deviation (SCAD) and Minimax Concave Penalty (MCP) for count data responses to checkmate the problem of covariates exceeding the sample size . The Generalized Linear Model (GLM) approach was adopted in obtaining the penalized functions needed by the MCP and ...

Summary: Hand preference is one of the behavioral expressions of lateralization in the brain. Previous fMRI studies showed the activation in several regions including the motor cortex and the cerebellum during single-hand movement.

AbstractIn this study, the generalized linear model (GLM) and four ensemble methods (partial least squares (PLS), boosting, bagging, and Bayesian) were applied to predict forest fire hazard in the Chalus Rood watershed in the Mazandaran Province, Iran. Data from 108 historical forest fire events collected through field surveys were applied as the basis

ABSTRACT Background and Objectives Multiple sclerosis (MS) exhibits racially disparate rates of disease progression. Black people with MS (B‐PwMS) experience a more severe disease course than non‐Hispanic White people with MS (NHW‐PwMS). Here we investigated structural and functional connectivity as well as structure–function decoupling in the ...

Contributory Factors of Traffic Accidents in Lahore Using Generalized Linear Models (GLM)
The geometric design of roads is the branch of highway engineering concerned with the positioning of the physical elements of the roadway according to standards and limitations with objectives to optimize efficiency and safety while minimizing cost and environmental damage.

Impact of Positive Lifestyle Behaviors on Direct Health Care Cost Savings for Low Back Pain
Objective This study aimed to investigate the relationship between a previously purpose‐developed lifestyle behavior scale and health care cost savings related to low back pain (LBP). Methods This longitudinal study used data from the Australian Twin Back (AUTBACK) study. LBP and lifestyle behavior measures were collected at baseline. Physical activity

Predicting the Aqueductal Cerebrospinal Fluid Pulse: A Statistical Approach
The cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) pulse in the Aqueduct of Sylvius (aCSF pulse) is often used to evaluate structural changes in the brain. Here we present a novel application of the general linear model (GLM) to predict the motion of the aCSF pulse.

The glm R package is commonly used for generalized linear modeling. In this paper, we evaluate the ability of the glm package to predict binomial outcomes using logistic regression. We use single-cell RNA-sequencing datasets, after a series of normalization, to fit data into glm models repeatedly using 10-fold cross-validation over 100 iterations.

Unleashing the Power of Machine Learning in Nanomedicine Formulation Development
A random forest machine learning model is able to make predictions on nanoparticle attributes of different nanomedicines (i.e. lipid nanoparticles, liposomes, or PLGA nanoparticles) based on microfluidic formulation parameters. Machine learning models are based on a database of nanoparticle formulations, and models are able to generate unique solutions
