Assembly of ZnII and CdII coordination polymers with different dimensionalities based on the semi-flexible 3-(1H-benzimidazol-2-yl)propanoic acid ligand

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E: Crystallographic Communications, 2018
Two new coordination polymers, namely, poly[[μ3-3-(1H-benzimidazol-2-yl)propionato]zinc(II)], [Zn(C10H8N2O2)]n, (1), and poly[bis[μ2-3-(1H-benzimidazol-2-yl)propionato]cadmium(II)], [Cd(C10H8N2O2)2]n, (2) have been synthesized from 3-(1H-benzoimidazol-2 ...

Influence of UV radiation and moisten associated with natural weathering on the ballistic performance of aramid fabric armor

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2020
The influence of weathering on the ballistic performance of an armor made with aramid fabric was for the first time investigated, by standard exposure related to degradation conditions of: (i) ultraviolet radiation (UV); (ii) moisten by washing (MW) and (

A Combined Strategy to Improve the Performance of Dental Alloys Using a New CoCrNbMoZr Alloy with Mn and Si Coated via an Anodic Oxidation Procedure

open access: yesMetals, 2021
The aim of the paper is based on a combined approach to improve dental alloy performance using a new Ni-free Co–Cr composition with Mo, Nb and Zr and coated with an anodic oxidation film.

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Mechanical properties and ballistic behavior of LiF-added Al2O3–4 wt%Nb2O5 ceramics

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2018
For the first time, the behavior of LiF-added alumina-niobia ceramics was quasi-static and dynamically analyzed in ballistic tests. Different compositions were investigated for the compound Al2O3–4 wt%Nb2O5–nLiF, with n ranging from 0 to 1.50 wt ...

Novel methods for dislocation density estimation in highly compacted tangles

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2020
Dislocation lines are usually observed in thin foil images obtained by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Based on conventional methods involving stereological relationship and line counting, dislocation densities have been calculated in distinct ...

A Comparative Electrochemical and Morphological Investigation on the Behavior of NiCr and CoCr Dental Alloys at Various Temperatures

open access: yesMetals, 2021
The purpose of our study is to compare the behavior of two reprocessed dental alloys (NiCr and CoCr) at different temperatures considering the idea that food and drinks in the oral cavity create various compositions at different pH levels; the novelty is

Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Charpy impact test of epoxy composites reinforced with untreated and mercerized mallow fibers

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2018
The mallow fiber (Urena lobata, linn) is demonstrating a great potential as reinforcement in polymer matrix composites. The difficulty in the use of the mallow, as in other natural lignocellulosic fibers (NLFs), is its hydrophilic compatibility with ...
