Inverting magnetotelluric data using a physics-guided auto-encoder with scaling laws extension

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science
Artificial neural networks (ANN) have gained significant attention in magnetotelluric (MT) inversions due to their ability to generate rapid inversion results compared to traditional methods.

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Adversarial Validation in Image Classification Datasets by Means of Cumulative Spectral Gradient

open access: yesAlgorithms
The main objective of a machine learning (ML) system is to obtain a trained model from input data in such a way that it allows predictions to be made on new i.i.d. (Independently and Identically Distributed) data with the lowest possible error.

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Generalization in fifth graders within a functional approach

open access: yesPNA: Revista de Investigación en Didáctica de la Matemática, 2018
This article discusses evidence of 24 fifth graders’ (10-11 year olds’) ability to generalize when solving a problem which involves a linear function. Analyzed in the context of the functional approach of early algebra, the findings show that 3 students ...

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve
