A Replicable and Generalizable Neuroimaging‐Based Indicator of Pain Sensitivity Across Individuals

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Humans differ in their sensitivity to pain. With six large and diverse fMRI datasets (total N = 1046), this study finds that such individual differences in pain sensitivity can be tracked by fMRI responses to painful stimuli. A highly generalizable machine learning model is further built to predict pain sensitivity across all datasets and analgesic ...

Evaluation personality- cognitive model of generalized anxiety disorder to explain pain perception in people with chronic pain [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Background and aims: Pain is the most popular of mental pressure that human face with. Based on the role of psychological factors in the formation and persistence of chronic pain and disability caused by it, this study was aimed to determine the fitness ...

Igfbp2 Downregulation in PVT‐CeA Glutamatergic Circuits Drives Neonatal Anesthesia‐Induced Fear Memory Deficits

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Repeated neonatal sevoflurane exposure impairs adolescent fear memory through Igfbp2 downregulation in paraventricular thalamus‐central amygdala glutamatergic projections. Restoring Igfbp2 or activating this circuit rescues memory deficits, neuronal excitability, and spine density, identifying a precise molecular target for preventing anesthesia ...

Neuroactive steroids in depression and anxiety disorders: Clinical studies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Certain neuroactive steroids modulate ligand-gated ion channels via non-genomic mechanisms. Especially 3 alpha-reduced pregnane steroids are potent positive allosteric modulators of the gamma-aminobutyric acid type A (GABA(A)) receptor.

Diagnosis, Prognosis, and Drug Target Discovery for Chronic Widespread Pain: A Large Proteogenomic Study

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Plasma proteomics is leveraged to decode the biological underpinnings of chronic widespread pain. A nested machine learning framework integrates proteomic signatures, prospective outcomes, and Mendelian randomization to uncover 18 causal proteins.

How should we treat major depression combined with anxiety? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
One approach is to use antidepressants alone, which reduce symptoms for patients with major depression plus symptoms of anxiety or major depression plus generalized anxiety disorder.

The structure of feared social situations among race-ethnic minorities and Whites with social anxiety disorder in the United States [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We investigated feared social situations in individuals with social anxiety disorder from different racial and ethnic groups in the United States. The sample included 247 African Americans, 158 Latinos, and 533 non-Latino Whites diagnosed with social ...

Allele‐Specific Regulation of PAXIP1‐AS1 by SMC3/CEBPB at rs112651172 in Psychiatric Disorders Drives Synaptic and Behavioral Dysfunctions in Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies a functional noncoding variant, rs112651172 (C/G), that drives allele‐specific expression of PAXIP1‐AS1 in monozygotic twin pairs discordant for schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. The risk G allele enhances CEBPB binding, leading to lncRNA upregulation, CNTNAP3 derepression, and synaptic and behavioral deficits in mice.

Emotion regulation difficulties related to depression and anxiety : a network approach to model relations among symptoms, positive reappraisal, and repetitive negative thinking [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Frequent repetitive negative thinking and infrequent positive reappraisal use are theorized to increase risk for depression and anxiety. Yet, research has studied these regulatory strategies at the disorder level, ignoring the clinical heterogeneity and ...

Refractory Status Epilepticus and Therapeutic Uncertainties: a Comprehensive Review on Targeting Neuroinflammation and Rationale for Developing a Platform Trial

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Refractory status epilepticus (RSE) is a life‐threatening neurological emergency with high rates of death and long‐term disability, but treatments for it are often based on limited evidence. RSE is now understood to involve neuroinflammation, which has led to the exploration of anti‐inflammatory and immunomodulatory agents like Tocilizumab. Traditional
