Comparative Evaluation of Hemodiafiltration, Hemoperfusion, and Standard Hemodialysis on Efficacy, Inflammatory Control, Dialysis Adequacy, and Safety in End‐Stage Renal Disease: A Prospective Observational Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic micro‐inflammation in patients with end‐stage renal disease (ESRD) is a significant driver of cardiovascular complications and diminished quality of life. While standard hemodialysis (SHD) effectively manages small‐molecule clearance, its ability to remove medium‐to‐large uremic toxins—the primary catalysts of systemic ...

Continued fractions, statistics, and generalized patterns

open access: yesArs Comb., 2001
Recently, Babson and Steingrimsson (see \cite{BS}) introduced generalized permutations patterns that allow the requirement that two adjacent letters in a pattern must be adjacent in the permutation. Following \cite{BCS}, let $e_kπ$ (respectively; $f_kπ$) be the number of the occurrences of the generalized pattern $12\mn3\mn...\mn k$ (respectively; $21 ...

Real convergence and periodicity of p-adic continued fractions [PDF]

open access: yesThe Ramanujan journal
Continued fractions have been generalized over the field of p-adic numbers, where it is still not known an analogue of the famous Lagrange’s Theorem.

Forecasting the Dialysis Burden in Japan: Validation‐Based Projections of Prevalence and Incidence Through 2050

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Japan has one of the highest dialysis prevalence rates worldwide and a shrinking, aging population. Whether dialysis burden has entered a sustained post‐peak phase or whether recent declines partly reflect pandemic‐related disruptions remains uncertain.

Association Between Individualized Education for Kidney Replacement Therapy Modality Selection and Peritoneal Dialysis Initiation: A Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Peritoneal dialysis (PD) is an established home‐based kidney replacement therapy (KRT), but its uptake remains low in Japan. We evaluated whether individualized education in a dedicated outpatient clinic was associated with the initiation of PD.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

The interruption phenomenon for generalized continued fractions

open access: yesBulletin of the Australian Mathematical Society, 1978
After defining a generalized C-fraction (a kind of Jacobi-Perron algorithm) for an n-tuple of formal power series over (n ≥ 2), the connection between interruptions in the algorithm and linear dependence over [x] of the power series is studied.

Modelling stem cell differentiation related processes—A practical overview for biologists

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Stem cell differentiation is complex and difficult to control experimentally. This review introduces suitable computational modelling approaches that can support stem cell research, from mechanistic ODE and abstract models to multiscale and deep learning methods.

On generalization of continued fraction of Gauss [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 1990
In this paper we establish a continued fraction represetation for the ratio qf two basic bilateral hypergeometric series 2ψ2′s which generalize Gauss′ continued fraction for the ratio of two 2F1′s.
