Intelligent Plasmonic Bio‐Holoelectrochemical Systems: A Testable Architecture for Light‐Programmed Microbial Electrochemistry

open access: yesGlobal Challenges, Volume 10, Issue 9, September 2026.
An evidence‐derived architecture integrates structured light, plasmonic bioelectrodes, spatial sensing, microbial electrosynthesis, and digital‐twin control into a testable framework for light‐programmed microbial electrochemistry. Mechanistic discrimination, equal‐dose spatial validation, and conservation‐aware performance accounting define the ...

Beyond the Black Box: Is Artificial Intelligence Ready to Reshape Neurosurgical Decision‐Making? A Narrative Review

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly being integrated into neurosurgical practice, offering capabilities in diagnostic imaging, surgical planning, and outcome prediction. However, the “black box” nature of many AI systems generating recommendations without a transparent rationale poses fundamental challenges to ...

Applications of Machine Learning in Noninvasive Anemia Diagnosis: A Systematic Review Based on Cross‐Industry Standard Process for Data Mining

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Anemia is a disorder caused by insufficient red blood cell count or hemoglobin concentration, affecting nearly a quarter of the global population each year. An undiagnosed condition can escalate into life‐threatening complications, particularly among pregnant women and children. Although anemia causes identifiable symptoms,

Mapping landowners' willingness to allow recreational deer harvest on their property for managing chronic wasting disease

open access: yesThe Journal of Wildlife Management, Volume 90, Issue 7, September 2026.
We demonstrate an approach for mapping the probability of landowners' willingness to allow wildlife management actions on their property using chronic wasting disease as a case study. Larger property sizes were associated with higher landowner willingness. We mapped predictions across the contiguous United States at the census tract level.

A Comparative Study of Low‐Dissipation Numerical Schemes for Hyperbolic Conservation Laws

open access: yesNumerical Methods for Partial Differential Equations, Volume 42, Issue 5, September 2026.
ABSTRACT This work provides a comparative assessment of several low‐dissipation numerical schemes for hyperbolic conservation laws, highlighting their performance relative to the classical Harten‐Lax‐van Leer (HLL) schemes. The schemes under consideration include the classical Harten‐Lax‐van Leer‐Contact (HLLC), the recently proposed TV flux splitting,
