Location‐Specific Hematoma Volume Predicts Early Neurological Deterioration in Supratentorial ICH
ABSTRACT Objective Early neurological deterioration (END) adversely affects outcomes in patients with intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). This study aimed to determine the location‐specific hematoma volumes for END in supratentorial ICH patients. Methods We retrospectively analyzed supratentorial ICH patients presenting from two prospective cohorts.

Mixtures of Common Skew-t Factor Analyzers [PDF]
A mixture of common skew-t factor analyzers model is introduced for model-based clustering of high-dimensional data. By assuming common component factor loadings, this model allows clustering to be performed in the presence of a large number of mixture ...

Generalized hyperbolic secant distribution: Properties, estimation, and applications
In this study, we define a generalized hyperbolic secant distribution. Poor fit to heavy tailed data sets is repeatedly obtained by existing three-parameter distributions. Only three parameters are considered in the proposed new distribution and it fits a heavy left- and right-tailed data better than various existing distributions. We study

ABSTRACT Background Collaterals are crucial factors that influence the infarct growth rate (IGR). We aimed to determine whether a comprehensive multimodal collateral score (MCS), incorporating collateral assessment at the arterial, tissue, and venous levels, is associated with functional independence and provides incremental prognostic value over ...

Objective Body mass index (BMI), glomerular filtration rate (GFR), and pretreatment urate levels have been reported to influence the urate‐lowering response to allopurinol. We investigated whether the fractional excretion of uric acid (FEUA) also modulates this response and relates to oxypurinol concentrations.

Models for Heavy-tailed Asset Returns [PDF]
Many of the concepts in theoretical and empirical finance developed over the past decades – including the classical portfolio theory, the Black-Scholes-Merton option pricing model or the RiskMetrics variance-covariance approach to VaR – rest upon the ...

Objective Somatic items used in depression assessments can potentially overlap with symptoms related to physical illness, including systemic sclerosis (SSc). No studies have looked at whether somatic depression items may be influenced by diffuse versus limited SSc disease subtypes, which are associated with varying degrees of symptom presentation.

Analyzing the use of generalized hyperbolic distributions to value at risk calculations
The goal of this paper is to analyze the use of the Generalized Hyperbolic (GH) Distributions to model the US Dollar/Brazilian Real exchange rate in a way to produce more accurate VaR (Value at Risk) measurements.

Objective We aimed to construct and evaluate the first laboratory‐based frailty index (FI‐Lab) for predicting adverse outcomes in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and to compare its predictive ability to that of an existing clinical FI. Methods We used data from a single‐center prospective cohort of adult patients with SLE whose baseline visit ...
