Modified and generalized single-element Maxwell viscoelastic model
Physical Review EIn this Letter, the single-element Maxwell model is generalized with respect to the wave vector and extended with a correction function that measures the reduced viscous response. This model has only two free parameters and avoids the attenuation-frequency locking present in the original model.

A generalized Maxwell-slip friction model appropriate for control purposes
2003 IEEE International Workshop on Workload Characterization (IEEE Cat. No.03EX775), 2004Under the increasing demand for more accurate high-performance motion systems, various friction models appropriate for control purpose of mechanical systems have been proposed. Most of these friction models formulate a heuristic dynamical model based on a few observed typical friction properties (e.g.

The generalized Maxwell-slip model: a novel model for friction Simulation and compensation
IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, 2005A novel, multistate friction model is presented, which is obtained from the Maxwell-slip model by replacing the usual Coulomb law at slip by a rate-state law. The form of the latter state equations is arrived at by comparison with a recently developed generic friction model as well as limiting behavior cases.

A note on novel generalizations of the Maxwell fluid model
International Journal of Non-Linear Mechanics, 2012In this note we generalize the classical viscoelastic fluid model due to Maxwell to allow the relaxation time and the viscosity to depend on the stress. Such models are very useful in describing the response of geological and many other polymeric fluids.

An implementation of the generalized Maxwell viscoelastic constitutive model
2014Viscoelastic problems deserve great interest in Computational Mechanics literature. In the last years different approaches have been proposed in order to model viscoelastic problems, as in the case of the generalized Maxwell model and its numerical implementation. In particular Kaliske and Rothert (M. Kaliske and H. Rothert, Comput.

Models, structure, and generality in Clerk Maxwell’s theory of electromagnetism
2017This article examines the gradual development of James Clerk Maxwell’s electromagnetic theory, arguing that he aimed at general structures through his models, illustrations, formal analogies, and scientific metaphors. It also considers a few texts in which Maxwell expounds his conception of physical theories and their relation to mathematics. Following
