Pediatric Partial and Generalized Seizures
Journal of Child Neurology, 2002Eight new anticonvulsant medications have been approved in the United States since 1993, offering physicians a greater range of options for treating children with partial and generalized seizures. However, pediatric neurologists have been faced with limited pediatric pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic information.

Secondarily generalized seizures
Neurology, 1995To the Editor: In their study of secondarily generalized tonic-clonic seizures, Theodore et al [1] carefully documented heterogeneity in the clinical manifestations of the transition from partial seizure to generalized convulsion. The EEG correlate of this transition is also variable in humans and experimental animals [2].

Management of generalized seizures in childhood
Pediatric Neurology, 1985The management of generalized seizures, the most common in childhood, depends upon accurate diagnosis, choice of appropriate antiepileptic drug, and attention to detail in the choice of diagnostic and therapeutic modalities. Most patients with generalized seizures can achieve control but the long-term prognosis may be less favorable than is widely ...

Callosotomy for severe epilepsies with generalized seizures: Outcome and prognostic factors
The purpose of the present study was to verify the effect of callosotomy on generalized seizures, to check the effect on other seizure types and to search for possible prognostic factors.

Levetiracetam: preliminary efficacy in generalized seizures
Epileptic Disorders, 2003ABSTRACT Levetiracetam is a novel antiepileptic drug (AED) with proven efficacy against partial seizures, but there is limited information about its effectiveness against generalized seizures. In animal models, levetiracetam protects against seizures in audiogenic susceptible rodents, and it is effective in the Genetic Absence Epilepsy Rat ...

Generalized seizures as the presentation of flecainide toxicity
European Heart Journal, 1989A 12-year-old girl developed generalized tonic-clonic seizures following ingestion of flecainide 1500 mg (15 tablets). At presentation, the electrocardiogram showed marked prolongation of the JT interval and marked increase in QRS duration. The initial plasma flecainide level was greater than 4 micrograms ml-1.

Two Marines With Generalized Seizure Activity
Journal of Emergency Nursing, 2009Just before midnight, a 23-year-old active-duty Marine arrived via ambulance after having 2 generalized seizures at a local health center. The man presented to the clinic complaining of a headache, feeling “sick to his stomach,” and vomiting once. Witnesses reported that each seizure lasted approximately 2 minutes, with a 2-minute interval between ...

Mechanisms and experimental models of seizure generation
Current Opinion in Neurology, 1998Over the past year evidence has accumulated against the idea that seizures require re-entrant activity between spatially separate structures. Seizures in vivo typically do involve interconnected, spatially separate brain regions, but they often show no net phase lag around the putative circuit. In many cases seizure-like events can arise from localized

Dyshormia Revisited: Generalized Seizures and Arousal
Clinical Electroencephalography, 1996Niedermeyer has described dyshormia, or deviant arousal, and related this EEG pattern to generalized seizures. We describe a patient with generalized seizures who in the same EEG had spindles transforming into generalized epileptiform discharges and generalized epileptiform discharges transforming into spindles.
