Nonlinear waves in Newton's cradle and the discrete p-Schroedinger equation
We study nonlinear waves in Newton's cradle, a classical mechanical system consisting of a chain of beads attached to linear pendula and interacting nonlinearly via Hertz's contact forces.

Digital phantoms generated by spectral and spatial light modulators [PDF]
A hyperspectral image projector (HIP) based on liquid crystal on silicon spatial light modulators is explained and demonstrated to generate data cubes. The HIP-constructed data cubes are three-dimensional images of the spatial distribution of spectrally resolved abundances of intracellular light-absorbing oxyhemoglobin molecules in single erythrocytes.

Detect-and-forward relaying aided cooperative spatial modulation for wireless networks
A novel detect-and-forward (DeF) relaying aided cooperative SM scheme is proposed, which is capable of striking a flexible tradeoff in terms of the achievable bit error ratio (BER), complexity and unequal error protection (UEP).

Multiple Beamforming with Perfect Coding
Perfect Space-Time Block Codes (PSTBCs) achieve full diversity, full rate, nonvanishing constant minimum determinant, uniform average transmitted energy per antenna, and good shaping. However, the high decoding complexity is a critical issue for practice.

Chromaticity-Adaptive Generalized Spatial Modulation for MIMO VLC With Multi-Color LEDs
In this paper, we propose a chromaticity-adaptive generalized spatial modulation (CA-GSM) method for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) visible light communication (VLC) systems with quadrichromatic LEDs (QLEDs).

CT Automated Exposure Control Using A Generalized Detectability Index [PDF]
Purpose Identifying an appropriate tube current setting can be challenging when using iterative reconstruction due to the varying relationship between spatial resolution, contrast, noise, and dose across different algorithms.

Electromagnetic wave propagation in spatially homogeneous yet smoothly time-varying dielectric media
We explore the propagation and transformation of electromagnetic waves through spatially homogeneous yet smoothly time-dependent media within the framework of classical electrodynamics. By modelling the smooth transition, occurring during a finite period

Train of high-power femtosecond pulses: Probe wave in a gas of prepared atoms
We present a new method for generating a regular train of ultrashort optical pulses in a prepared two-level medium. The train develops from incident monochromatic probe radiation travelling in a medium of atoms, which are in a quantum mechanical ...

Zero forcing based sphere decoder for generalized spatial modulation systems
To reduce the number of radio frequency (RF) chains in multiple input multiple output (MIMO) systems, generalized spatial modulation (GSM) techniques have been proposed in the literature.
