Recursive SDN for Carrier Networks

open access: yes, 2016
Control planes for global carrier networks should be programmable (so that new functionality can be easily introduced) and scalable (so they can handle the numerical scale and geographic scope of these networks).

Cost-Effectiveness of Stronger Woodframe Buildings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We examine the cost-effectiveness of improvements in woodframe buildings. These include retrofits, redesign measures, and improved quality in 19 hypothetical woodframe dwellings.

Decentralized Minimum-Cost Repair for Distributed Storage Systems

open access: yes, 2013
There have been emerging lots of applications for distributed storage systems e.g., those in wireless sensor networks or cloud storage. Since storage nodes in wireless sensor networks have limited battery, it is valuable to find a repair scheme with ...

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

Reliability Analysis of $M$-for-$N$ Shared Protection Systems With General Repair-Time Distributions

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Reliability, 2011
In this paper, we investigate the user perceived reliability of M-for-N shared protection systems. The M-for-N shared protection system is a general type of the fault-tolerant configuration with shared backup units. We assume that there are N working units each serving a single group of users and M shared protection (spare) units in the system. We also

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming and confer resistance to targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

Reliability parameters of equipment with a general repair-time distribution

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 1968
The possibility of application of Engset formulas to the calculation of reliability parameters of equipments, the repair-time distributions of which differ from an exponential one, is demonstrated.
