Generating-function approach for bond percolations in hierarchical networks
We study bond percolations on hierarchical scale-free networks with the open bond probability of the shortcuts $\tilde{p}$ and that of the ordinary bonds $p$.

Generating Functions for Bessel Functions [PDF]
On replacing the parameter n in Bessel's differential equation1.1by the operator y(∂/∂y), the partial differential equation Lu = 0 is constructed, where1.2This operator annuls u(x, y) = v(x)yn if, and only if, v(x) satisfies (1.1) and hence is a cylindrical function of order n.

ERBIN limits epithelial cell plasticity via suppression of TGF‐β signaling
In breast and lung cancer patients, low ERBIN expression correlates with poor clinical outcomes. Here, we show that ERBIN inhibits TGF‐β‐induced epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in NMuMG breast and A549 lung adenocarcinoma cell lines. ERBIN suppresses TGF‐β/SMAD signaling and reduces TGF‐β‐induced ERK phosphorylation.

Hall-Littlewood plane partitions and KP
MacMahon's classic generating function of random plane partitions, which is related to Schur polynomials, was recently extended by Vuletic to a generating function of weighted plane partitions that is related to Hall-Littlewood polynomials, S(t), and ...

Knowing how proteases recognise preferred substrates facilitates matching proteases to applications. The S1′ pocket of protease EA1 directs cleavage to the N‐terminal side of hydrophobic residues, particularly leucine. The S1′ pocket of thermolysin differs from EA's at only one position (leucine in place of phenylalanine), which decreases cleavage ...

Exploring lipid diversity and minimalism to define membrane requirements for synthetic cells
Designing the lipid membrane of synthetic cells is a complex task, in which its various roles (among them solute transport, membrane protein support, and self‐replication) should all be integrated. In this review, we report the latest top‐down and bottom‐up advances and discuss compatibility and complexity issues of current engineering approaches ...

The Weak Bruhat Order and Separable Permutations [PDF]
In this paper we consider the rank generating function of a separable permutation $\pi$ in the weak Bruhat order on the two intervals $[\text{id}, \pi]$ and $[\pi, w_0]$, where $w_0 = n,(n-1),..., 1$. We show a surprising result that the product of these

C‐mannosylation is a unique form of protein glycosylation. In this study, we demonstrated that ADAMTS1 is C‐mannosylated at Trp562 and Trp565 in human testicular germ cell tumor NEC8 cells. We found that C‐mannosylation of ADAMTS1 is essential for its secretion, processing, enzymatic activity, and ability to promote vasculogenic mimicry. These findings

On the generalized Wannier functions [PDF]
We consider single particle Schrödinger operators with a gap in the energy spectrum. We construct a complete, orthonormal basis function set for the invariant space corresponding to the spectrum below the spectral gap, which are exponentially localized around a set of closed surfaces of monotonically increasing sizes. Estimates on the exponential decay
