Short-term reliability evaluation for power stations by using ${Lz}$-transform

open access: yesJournal of Modern Power Systems and Clean Energy, 2013
A short-term reliability evaluation is used for power stations, where each power generating unit is presented by a multi-state Markov model. The main obstacle for reliability evaluation in such a case is a “curse of dimensionality”—a

Counting permutations by alternating descents [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We find the exponential generating function for permutations with all valleys even and all peaks odd, and use it to determine the asymptotics for its coefficients, answering a question posed by Liviu Nicolaescu.

Interplay between circadian and other transcription factors—Implications for cycling transcriptome reprogramming

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This perspective highlights emerging insights into how the circadian transcription factor CLOCK:BMAL1 regulates chromatin architecture, cooperates with other transcription factors, and coordinates enhancer dynamics. We propose an updated framework for how circadian transcription factors operate within dynamic and multifactorial chromatin landscapes ...

Generating Informative Responses with Controlled Sentence Function

open access: yesAnnual Meeting of the Association for Computational Linguistics, 2018
Sentence function is a significant factor to achieve the purpose of the speaker, which, however, has not been touched in large-scale conversation generation so far.

Orthogonal polynomials with a resolvent-type generating function

open access: yes, 2006
The subject of this paper are polynomials in multiple non-commuting variables. For polynomials of this type orthogonal with respect to a state, we prove a Favard-type recursion relation. On the other hand, free Sheffer polynomials are a polynomial family

Disordered but rhythmic—the role of intrinsic protein disorder in eukaryotic circadian timing

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Unstructured domains known as intrinsically disordered regions (IDRs) are present in nearly every part of the eukaryotic core circadian oscillator. IDRs enable many diverse inter‐ and intramolecular interactions that support clock function. IDR conformations are highly tunable by post‐translational modifications and environmental conditions, which ...

Generalized Einstein operator generating functions

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2010
We present gauge invariant, self adjoint Einstein operators for mixed symmetry higher spin theories. The result applies to multi-forms, multi-symmetric forms and mixed antisymmetric and symmetric multi-forms. It also yields explicit action principles for these theories in terms of their minimal covariant field content.

A New Generating Function of (q-) Bernstein Type Polynomials and their Interpolation Function

open access: yes, 2010
The main object of this paper is to construct a new generating function of the (q-) Bernstein type polynomials. We establish elementary properties of this function. By using this generating function, we derive recurrence relation and derivative of the (q-

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

ENIGMA GENERATING FUNCTION OF SYNTAGMATIC ASSOCIATION

open access: yesPolylinguality and Transcultural Practices, 2008
In the article the principle of motivating bounds of objects in Russian riddles is under analyses. Syntagmatic similarity of two substantives and reasons for their contaminations are also studied.
