Population structure of Brazilian Gyr dairy cattle Estrutura populacional de bovinos Gir leiteiros no Brasil

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Zootecnia, 2010
The objective of the present study was to evaluate the genetic structure of Gyr cattle selected for milk production. Files of pedigree and production were composed of 27,610 animals. The ENDOG program was used for the calculation of individual inbreeding

A Domain of Spacetime Intervals in General Relativity [PDF]

open access: yesCommunications in Mathematical Physics, 2006
We prove that a globally hyperbolic spacetime with its causality relation is a bicontinuous poset whose interval topology is the manifold topology. This implies that from only a countable dense set of events and the causality relation, it is possible to reconstruct a globally hyperbolic spacetime in a purely order theoretic manner.

Common Genetic Variation Near the Phospholamban Gene Is Associated with Cardiac Repolarisation: Meta-Analysis of Three Genome-Wide Association Studies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
To identify loci affecting the electrocardiographic QT interval, a measure of cardiac repolarisation associated with risk of ventricular arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death, we conducted a meta-analysis of three genome-wide association studies (GWAS ...

Inferring time-varying generation time, serial interval, and incubation period distributions for COVID-19

open access: yes, 2022
The generation time distribution, reflecting the time between successive infections in transmission chains, is a key epidemiological parameter for describing COVID-19 transmission dynamics.

On the Generating Function for Intervals in Young's Lattice

open access: yesThe Electronic Journal of Combinatorics, 2023
In this paper, we study a family of generating functions whose coefficients are polynomials that enumerate partitions in lower order ideals of Young's lattice. Our main result is that this family satisfies a rational recursion and are therefore rational functions.

Interval MV-algebras and generalizations

open access: yesInternational Journal of Approximate Reasoning, 2014
For any MV-algebra $A$ we equip the set $I(A)$ of intervals in $A$ with pointwise Łukasiewicz negation $\neg x=\{\neg α\mid α\in x\}$, (truncated) Minkowski sum, $x\oplus y=\{α\oplus β\mid α\in x,\,\,β\in y\}$, pointwise Łukasiewicz conjunction $x\odot y=\neg(\neg x\oplus \neg y)$, the operators $Δx=[\min x,\min x]$, $\nabla x=[\max x,\max x]$, and ...

Pedigree analysis of the Latvian Warmblood horse heavy type population

open access: yesCzech Journal of Animal Science
A breeding program has been developed for the Latvian warmblood heavy type horses in Latvia, with the aim to preserve this type, because the number of these horses is small and the status of the local endangered breed has been granted.
