A General Cohort Analysis Method
Biometrics, 1994Summary: A general cohort analysis method for exploited wildlife populations is described and analysed. Basic mathematical properties are studied for the case of deterministic Riemann time-integrable mortality rates, and differentiable cumulative catch functions, and a simple, but still flexible, technique for stepwise backcalculation of a cohort is ...

Bayesian cohort models for general cohort table analyses
Annals of the Institute of Statistical Mathematics, 1986New Bayesian cohort models designed to resolve the identification problem in cohort analysis are proposed in this paper. At first, the basic cohort model which represents the statistical structure of time-series social survey data in terms of age, period and cohort effects is explained.

Cohort analysis of generic survivorship
Paleobiology, 1978Cohort analysis provides an effective method of analysing taxonomic survivorship in the fossil record where large data sets are available. An analysis of the stratigraphic ranges of about 8,500 fossil genera and subgenera shows that survivorship patterns are substantially the same throughout the Phanerozoic.

Generations, Cohorts, and Social Change
2007The transformations that occur via a succession of cohorts cannot, for basic demographic reasons, be equated to the product of a procession of “generations.”... this brute fact is a profound key to the understanding of social continuity and social change. Indeed, a characteristically human type of society might well be impossible were the demography of

Cross-Strait Tourism and Generational Cohorts
Journal of Travel Research, 2015This study utilized generational cohort theory to enhance understanding of the motivation and destination image of Mainland Chinese tourists visiting Taiwan (i.e., cross-strait tourism). With 350 Chinese tourists traveling to Taiwan, unique characteristics of four generations were identified (e.g., the Republican generation was more highly motivated ...

Generational cohorts and new venture creation
International Journal of Entrepreneurship and Small Business, 2014This research attempts to decode differences between generational cohorts, especially BBers and Gen-Xers, in the way they use resources to address difficulties at the initiation, preparation, start-up and operations stages of new venture creation. Drawing on generational cohort theory, business stage models and the RBV, we examine differences in the ...
