Population genomics of Vitis pseudoreticulata reveals the genetic basis of fungal resistance in grapevine

open access: yesHorticultural Plant Journal
Grapevine cultivation is facing significant challenges from fungal diseases. Wild Vitis species exhibit extraordinary fungal resistance, offering valuable genetic resources for grapevine improvement, yet their genetic basis of fungal resistance remains ...

Comparative pathogenomics reveals horizontally acquired novel virulence genes in fungi infecting cereal hosts.

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens, 2012
Comparative analyses of pathogen genomes provide new insights into how pathogens have evolved common and divergent virulence strategies to invade related plant species.

The microbiome in human skin aging

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐related skin changes encompass the well‐known visible phenotypic alterations, together with microbiome dysbiosis and a series of molecular aging hallmarks. These hallmarks characterize not only a fully stablished aged phenotype but also the skin aging process itself.

Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungal community abundance, functions, and symbiotic interactions revealed by root metatranscriptomes

open access: yesiMetaOmics
Arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungal communities are often profiled by metabarcoding, but this approach can bias abundance estimates and provide limited insight into community function and interactions with the host.

Molecular Signaling and Metabolic Responses during the Interaction between Human Keratinocytes (HaCaT) and the Dermatophyte Trichophyton rubrum

open access: yesJournal of Fungi
Trichophyton rubrum is the leading causative agent of dermatophytosis worldwide. Keratinocytes are the first line of defense that drives an immune response against fungal invasion.

Cocultivation of Anaerobic Fungi with Rumen Bacteria Establishes an Antagonistic Relationship

open access: yesmBio, 2021
Anaerobic gut fungi (Neocallimastigomycetes) live in the digestive tract of large herbivores, where they are vastly outnumbered by bacteria. It has been suggested that anaerobic fungi challenge growth of bacteria owing to the wealth of biosynthetic genes

Hyperactive ice‐binding proteins stabilize cell membranes and improve resistance to dehydration stress in Caenorhabditis elegans

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
TisIBP8, a fungal‐derived hyperactive ice‐binding protein, helps Caenorhabditis elegans survive dehydration. It localizes near cell membranes, reduces cell damage, and helps maintain membrane structure during drying. These results suggest that ice‐binding proteins can protect cells from dehydration stress as well as freezing stress.

Comparative Effectiveness and Safety of Inebilizumab Versus Rituximab in AQP4‐IgG‐Positive NMOSD

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Rituximab (anti‐CD20, RTX) and inebilizumab (anti‐CD19, INE) represent B‐cell‐depleting therapies used for aquaporin‐4 antibody‐positive (AQP4‐IgG+) neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD); however, direct comparative evidence remains limited.

Evaluation of Digital Technologies for Home‐Based Assessment in People With Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Digital technologies hold promise for transforming healthcare by enhancing personalized treatments and offer valuable opportunities to improve patient care. Here, we evaluated several novel, self‐administered, home‐based, digital endpoints for their association with corresponding conventional standard clinical measures (primary) in ...

Effect of Supplementing Different Types of Mother Daqu on Fungal Community and Functional Gene Succession during Fermentation of Jiang-Flavor Daqu [PDF]

open access: yesShipin Kexue
This study employed metagenomics, flavoromics, and physicochemical analysis to elucidate the regulatory mechanism of different types of mother Daqu on fungal community succession, functional gene expression, and volatile compound dynamics during the ...
