NRASQ61R Expression in Lymphatic Endothelial Cells Causes Enlarged Vessels, Hemorrhagic Chylous Effusions, and High Mortality in a Mouse Model of Kaposiform Lymphangiomatosis

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Kaposiform lymphangiomatosis (KLA) is an aggressive complex lymphatic anomaly. Patients exhibit malformed lymphatic vessels and often develop hemorrhagic effusions and elevated angiopoietin‐2 (Ang‐2) levels. A somatic NRAS p.Q61R (NRASQ61R) mutation has been associated with KLA.

Estimation of genetic parameters of yield and yield traits in wheat genotypes under rainfed conditions

open access: yesInternational Journal of Environment, 2015
Development of superior crop varieties is the prime objectives of all plant breeding programs. To determine genetic variability, heritability and genetic advance, 24 elite bread wheat lines were planted in randomized complete block design with three ...

Modelling of Metallurgical Processes Using Chaos Theory and Hybrid Computational Intelligence [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
The main objective of the present work is to develop a framework for modelling and controlling of a real world multi-input and multi-output (MIMO) continuously drifting metallurgical process, which is shown to be a complex system.

Prospect patents, data markets, and the commons in data-driven medicine : openness and the political economy of intellectual property rights [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Scholars who point to political influences and the regulatory function of patent courts in the USA have long questioned the courts’ subjective interpretation of what ‘things’ can be claimed as inventions.

Pulmonary Dysfunction Is Associated With Sleep Study Abnormalities in Children With Sickle Cell Disease: A Multicenter Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Pulmonary dysfunction and sleep abnormalities are common in children with sickle cell disease (SCD) and are associated with worse clinical outcomes. Whether spirometry abnormalities are associated with polysomnography (PSG) findings remains unclear.

A framework for quantification and physical modeling of cell mixing applied to oscillator synchronization in vertebrate somitogenesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In development and disease, cells move as they exchange signals. One example is found in vertebrate development, during which the timing of segment formation is set by a ‘segmentation clock’, in which oscillating gene expression is synchronized across a ...

Prevalence and Trajectory of Household Material Hardship Among Children With Advanced Cancer

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background/Objectives Families of children with advanced cancer living in poverty experience inferior outcomes including poor parent mental health and worse child quality of life. Household material hardship (HMH: food, housing, transportation, and/or utility insecurity) is a modifiable poverty exposure—and potential intervention target—that ...

Assessment of genetic variability in newly developed rice (Oryza sativa L.) hybrids

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Plant Breeding, 2018
The knowledge of genetic variability in a given crop species for characters under improvement is important in any plant breeding programme. Genetic parameters for yield and its correspondent characters in rice were estimated from a trial conducted at ...

Computing vs. Genetics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
This chapter first presents the interrelations between computing and genetics, which both are based on information and, particularly, self-reproducing artificial systems. It goes on to examine genetic code from a computational viewpoint.

Financial Burden Associated With Hospitalisation Among Families of Childhood Brain Tumours in Australia

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Families of children with cancer experience significant financial strain, even with universal healthcare. Indirect costs, such as productivity losses and non‐medical expenses, are rarely included in economic evaluations, and little is known about how effectively financial aid programmes alleviate this burden. Childhood brain tumours
