First report of the cactus cyst nematode, Cactodera cacti, from a cactus garden in Idaho

open access: yesJournal of Nematology, 2019
In April 2018, a cyst nematode was discovered from soil samples collected from a cactus garden collection in Meridian, Ada County, Idaho, USA. The cactus garden collection field reported was observed with localized areas of heavily stunted plants.

Recent Trends in Research on the Genetic Diversity of Plants: Implications for Conservation

open access: yesDiversity, 2019
Genetic diversity and its distribution, both within and between populations, may be determined by micro-evolutionary processes, such as the demographic history of populations, natural selection, and gene flow. In plants, indices of genetic diversity (e.g.

The Stabilizing Effect Of Intraspecific Genetic Variation On Population Dynamics In Novel And Ancestral Habitats [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Recent studies show that intraspecific genetic variation in asexual species may have large effects on community and ecosystem functions, increasing their stability, productivity, and species richness.

Genetic Diversity in Nephelium [PDF]

open access: yesHortScience, 1995
Fifty-six accessions involving five taxa of Nephelium (N. Iappaceum varieties lappaceum and pallens, N. hypoleucum, N. ramboutan-ake, and N. cuspidatum) were fingerprinted and evaluated for genetic diversity using isozyme polymorphism. All five taxa were polymorphic for most of the enzymes encoded by 10 putative loci. Number of alleles per locus ranged

Genetic diversity and core subset selection in ex situ seed collections of the banana crop wild relative Musa balbisiana [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Crop wild relatives (CWRs) play a key role in crop breeding by providing beneficial trait characteristics for improvement of related crops. CWRs are more efficiently used in breeding if the plant material is genetically characterized, but the diversity ...

Nephronophthisis: A Genetically Diverse Ciliopathy [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Nephrology, 2011
Nephronophthisis (NPHP) is an autosomal recessive cystic kidney disease and a leading genetic cause of established renal failure (ERF) in children and young adults. Early presenting symptoms in children with NPHP include polyuria, nocturia, or secondary enuresis, pointing to a urinary concentrating defect. Renal ultrasound typically shows normal kidney

Comparing RADseq and microsatellites for estimating genetic diversity and relatedness — Implications for brown trout conservation

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, 2019
The conservation and management of endangered species requires information on their genetic diversity, relatedness and population structure. The main genetic markers applied for these questions are microsatellites and single nucleotide polymorphisms ...

Genetic Diversity Evaluation of Moringa Oleifera, Lam From East Flores Regency Using Marker Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA (RAPD) and Its Relationship to Chemical Composition and in Vitro Gas Production [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The research objective was to evaluate the genetic diversity of Moringa oleifera, Lam (MO) and its relationship to chemical composition and in vitro gas production (IVGP). Fresh MO leaves were kept frozen in ice gels pack until laboratory analysis.

Genetic Diversity in Citrus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The genus Citrus L. belongs to the subtribe Citrineae, the tribe Citreae within the subfamily Aurantioideae of the Rutaceae family (Webber, 1967). The Aurantioideae is one of seven subfamilies of Rutaceae which consists of two tribes and 33 genera. Each of tribes Clauseneae and Citreae is composed of three subtribes.
