Phloretin-nanospanlastics for targeting the Akt/PI3K signaling pathways in dimethylhydrazine-induced colon cancer in mice

open access: yesInternational Journal of Pharmaceutics: X
Objectives: Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer worldwide, accounting for approximately 10 % of all cancer cases. It is also the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths globally.

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

THE SPECIATION IN GENETIC ALGORITHMS FOR PRESERVING POPULATION DIVERSITY AND OPTIMIZATION OF FUNCTIONS WITH SUBOPTIMAL SOLUTIONS

open access: yesЕлектроніка та інформаційні технології
Background. Genetic algorithms are used in various tasks and show advantages compared to other optimization methods, which may not always be applicable. However, there are cases when they can’t provide the best possible solution.

Recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming and confer resistance to targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

Crucial parameters for precise copy number variation detection in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded solid cancer samples

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that copy number variations (CNVs) can be reliably detected in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded (FFPE) solid cancer samples using ultra‐low‐pass whole‐genome sequencing, provided that key (pre)‐analytical parameters are optimized.

Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of single circulating tumor cells in the follow‐up of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

Optimization of the fermentation process and antioxidant activity of mixed lactic acid bacteria for honeysuckle beverage

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology
The aim of the research was to obtain a high healthcare honeysuckle beverage with strong antioxidant activity. Honeysuckle (Lonicera japonica Thunb) was used as the raw material in this experiment.

Tumor mutational burden as a determinant of metastatic dissemination patterns

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study performed a comprehensive analysis of genomic data to elucidate whether metastasis in certain organs share genetic characteristics regardless of cancer type. No robust mutational patterns were identified across different metastatic locations and cancer types.
