Overcoming maladaptive plasticity through plastic compensation

open access: yesCurrent Zoology, 2013
Most species evolve within fluctuating environments, and have developed adaptations to meet the challenges posed by environmental heterogeneity. One such adaptation is phenotypic plasticity, or the ability of a single genotype to produce multiple ...

Investigating the cell of origin and novel molecular targets in Merkel cell carcinoma: a historic misnomer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study indicates that Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) does not originate from Merkel cells, and identifies gene, protein & cellular expression of immune‐linked and neuroendocrine markers in primary and metastatic Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) tumor samples, linked to Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV) status, with enrichment of B‐cell and other immune cell

YAP1::TFE3 mediates endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal plasticity in epithelioid hemangioendothelioma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The YAP1::TFE3 fusion protein drives endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EndMT) plasticity, resulting in the loss of endothelial characteristics and gain of mesenchymal‐like properties, including resistance to anoikis, increased migratory capacity, and loss of contact growth inhibition in endothelial cells.

Gut microbiota diversity is prognostic in metastatic hormone receptor‐positive breast cancer patients receiving chemotherapy and immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this exploratory study, we investigated the relationship between the gut microbiota and outcome in patients with metastatic hormone receptor‐positive breast cancer, treated in a randomized clinical trial with chemotherapy alone or chemotherapy in combination with immune checkpoint blockade.

Identifying Genetic Variants in Patients With Cefaclor‐Induced Anaphylaxis Using Human Leukocyte Antigen Typing and Whole‐Exome Sequencing

open access: yesClinical and Translational Allergy
Background Cefaclor is a commonly prescribed β‐lactam antibiotic and a known major cause of immediate‐type drug hypersensitivity in Korea. However, its genetic risk factors remain poorly understood.

Genetic architecture of heritable leaf microbes

open access: yesMicrobiology Spectrum
Host-associated microbiomes are shaped by both their environment and host genetics, and often impact host performance. The scale of host genetic variation important to microbes is largely unknown yet fundamental to the community assembly of host ...

Phenotypic examination of variation occurring both among families and among genotypes within a T. repens x (T. ambiguum x T. occidentale) BC₁F₂ hybrid population : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Plant Breeding at Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Development of white clover cultivars with increased vegetative persistence, particularly in dryland farming systems has been a major goal within breeding programmes, however little useful genetic variation for survival and growth in these ...
