Genetics of insecticide resistance in mosquito vectors of disease

Parasitology Today, 1992
Early studies on the genetics of insecticide resistance showed that single major semi-dominant genes were generally involved, and biochemical studies defined a limited number of enzymes and structural nerve proteins that were encoded by these genes. Recent advances in resistance detection now allow the measurement of genotype frequencies for some of ...

Genetic Algebras Considered as Elements in a Vector Space

SIAM Journal on Applied Mathematics, 1978
For studying certain problems in mathematical population genetics one may introduce nonassociative linear algebras specifying the probability distribution of offspring genotypes given the genotypes of the parents. In this paper it is pointed out that it may be useful to regard these algebras as vectors in a larger space.

Genetically Engineering Adenoviral Vectors for Gene Therapy

2013
Adenoviral (Ad) vectors are commonly used for various gene therapy applications. Significant advances in the genetic engineering of Ad vectors in recent years has highlighted their potential for the treatment of metastatic disease. There are several methods to genetically modify the Ad genome to incorporate retargeting peptides which will redirect the ...

Genetics of Insect Vector Competence for Arboviruses

1994
Ever since arthropods were first incriminated as vectors of disease, medical and veterinary entomologists have recognized that identification of the particular arthropod species transmitting a disease agent is critical for understanding disease epidemiology and for effective disease control.
