Intracranial hemorrhage detection in 3D computed tomography images using a bi-directional long short-term memory network-based modified genetic algorithm

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2023
IntroductionIntracranial hemorrhage detection in 3D Computed Tomography (CT) brain images has gained more attention in the research community. The major issue to deal with the 3D CT brain images is scarce and hard to obtain the labelled data with better ...

Directional selection effects on patterns of phenotypic (co)variation in wild populations. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Phenotypic (co)variation is a prerequisite for evolutionary change, and understanding how (co)variation evolves is of crucial importance to the biological sciences.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Construction of Shati/Nat8l Plasmid Vectors, and Analysis of Mitochondrial Function Mediated by Shati/Nat8l Against Amyloid β Toxicity

open access: yesNeuropsychopharmacology Reports
In Alzheimer's disease (AD), the accumulation of senile plaques composed of neurotoxic amyloid β (Aβ) is known to be one of the causes. Shati/Nat8l, a gene related to neuropsychiatric disorders, encodes an enzyme that biosynthesizes N‐acetyl aspartate ...

Self-adaptive GA, quantitative semantic similarity measures and ontology-based text clustering [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
As the common clustering algorithms use vector space model (VSM) to represent document, the conceptual relationships between related terms which do not co-occur literally are ignored.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.
