Justicia, propiedad intelectual y genoma humano

Next‐generation sequencing in newborn screening: Current status, challenges, and future perspectives

open access: yesPediatric Investigation, Volume 10, Issue 1, Page 70-85, February 2026.
Newborn screening shifts from biochemical to genetic methods. Global exploration is promising but requires overcoming challenges and international collaboration to optimize implementation. ABSTRACT Newborn screening (NBS) is a key public health intervention that improves children's health outcomes by enabling precise intervention through the early ...

Phylogeny and historical biogeography of the Pachira sensu lato clade (Bombacoideae, Malvaceae) with a new infrageneric classification

open access: yesTAXON, Volume 75, Issue 1, February 2026.
Abstract We explore phylogenetic relationships within the Pachira sensu lato clade (Bombacoideae, Malvaceae), test the monophyly of the genera Eriotheca and Pachira, and investigate their biogeographic history. The Pachira s.l. clade comprises ca. 72 species that traditionally have been placed in Eriotheca and Pachira. We sampled ca. 79% of its species

A novel mechanism of auxin habituation: upregulation of auxin receptor TRANSPORT INHIBITOR RESPONSE 1 allows cell proliferation independent of external auxin

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 249, Issue 3, Page 1268-1282, February 2026.
Summary Exogenously applied auxins are essential for establishing cell lines in tissue cultures and maintaining their proliferation. Cell lines may develop the ability to proliferate even in media lacking auxin, they may become auxin‐habituated. This study investigated the mechanisms underlying this process.

Human action in a Genomic Era: debates on human nature Ação humana na Era do Genoma: debates sobre a natureza humana

open access: yesHistória, Ciências, Saúde: Manguinhos, 2009
The supposed properties of 'genes' have led natural scientists to claim authority to explain the reasons of human action, behavior, and even human nature, which has traditionally been the object of study of the humanities.

Genoma gaúcho

open access: yesRevista FAMECOS, 2008

The frequency and importance of polyploidy in tropical rainforest tree radiations

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 249, Issue 4, Page 2103-2114, February 2026.
Summary The presence of more than two copies of the genome in an organism, termed ‘polyploidy’, is a crucial force in plant evolution, generating genetic, phenotypic and ecological diversity. [Correction added on 22 January 2026, after first online publication: the preceding sentence has been corrected.] The Amazonian tree flora is the most species ...

Ant colony algorithm for analysis of gene interaction in high-dimensional association data Algoritmo colônia de formigas para análise de interação gênica em dados de associação de alta dimensão

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Zootecnia, 2009
In recent years there has been much focus on the use of single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) fine genome mapping to identify causative mutations for traits of interest; however, many studies focus only on the marginal effects of markers, ignoring ...
