A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

Comparison of clinical and laboratory characteristics and frequency of liver fibrosis in patients with chronic viral hepatitis C of the first and third genotypes

open access: yesМедицинский совет, 2022
Introduction. There is a discussion about which genotype of viral hepatitis C (HCV) is the most aggressive. Some authors consider that the 1st genotype is the most aggressive, others define the 3rd HCV genotype as a factor that determines the

Spatially and genetically distinct African trypanosome virulence variants defined by host interferon-g response [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We describe 2 spatially distinct foci of human African trypansomiasis in eastern Uganda. The Tororo and Soroti foci of Trypanosoma brucei rhodesiense infection were genetically distinct as characterized by 6 microsatellite and 1 ...

Patient‐specific pharmacogenomics demonstrates xCT as predictive therapeutic target in colon cancer with possible implications in tumor connectivity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study integrates transcriptomic profiling of matched tumor and healthy tissues from 32 colorectal cancer patients with functional validation in patient‐derived organoids, revealing dysregulated metabolic programs driven by overexpressed xCT (SLC7A11) and SLC3A2, identifying an oncogenic cystine/glutamate transporter signature linked to ...

A Novel Single Nucleotide Polymorphism in Exon 4 of Insulin-Like Growth Factor-1 Associated with Production Traits in Bali Cattle [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) is one of the gene candidates that can be used in selection strategy by using DNA markers (marker assisted selection).

A polymorphism at IGF1 locus is associated with anemia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In vitro and in vivo studies suggest that IGF-1 has a role in erythropoiesis. There is evidence that the rs35767 C/T polymorphism near IGF1 is associated with plasma IGF-1 levels.

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

XRCC1, but not APE1 and hOGG1 gene polymorphisms is a risk factor for pterygium. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
PurposeEpidemiological evidence suggests that UV irradiation plays an important role in pterygium pathogenesis. UV irradiation can produce a wide range of DNA damage.

HIV-1 genotypes in peripheral blood monocytes

open access: yesJournal of Leukocyte Biology, 2000
Abstract CD4+ T cells and tissue macrophages are well defined as the major targets for human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) infection and replication, and their infection accounts for many aspects of HIV-1 pathogenesis in vivo.

Reduced vascular leakage correlates with breast carcinoma T regulatory cell infiltration but not with metastatic propensity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A mouse model for vascular normalization and a human breast cancer cohort were studied to understand the relationship between vascular leakage and tumor immune suppression. For this, endothelial and immune cell RNAseq, staining for vascular function, and immune cell profiling were employed.
