A Generic Approach to Searching for Jacobians

open access: yes, 2007
We consider the problem of finding cryptographically suitable Jacobians. By applying a probabilistic generic algorithm to compute the zeta functions of low genus curves drawn from an arbitrary family, we can search for Jacobians containing a large ...

Genus-correspondences respecting spinor genus

open access: yesJournal of Number Theory, 2017
For two positive definite integral ternary quadratic forms $f$ and $g$ and a positive integer $n$, if $n\cdot g$ is represented by $f$ and $n\cdot dg=df$, then the pair $(f,g)$ is called a representable pair by scaling $n$. The set of all representable pairs in $\text{gen}(f)\times \text{gen}(g)$ is called a genus-correspondence.

Real‐World Cost‐Effectiveness of a Standardized Education and Exercise Therapy Program for Hip and Knee Osteoarthritis Compared to Usual Care

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective We estimated the real‐world cost‐effectiveness of a standardized education and exercise therapy program (GLA:D) compared to usual care (UC) for people managing hip and/or knee osteoarthritis (HKOA). Methods We used a prospective matched cohort design to recruit people (aged >45 years) diagnosed with HKOA who used GLA:D or UC (not on a ...

A near-optimal approximation algorithm for Asymmetric TSP on embedded graphs

open access: yes, 2013
We present a near-optimal polynomial-time approximation algorithm for the asymmetric traveling salesman problem for graphs of bounded orientable or non-orientable genus.

Screening for Social Determinants of Health in Patients With Systemic Lupus Erythematosus: A Point‐of‐Care Feasibility Study

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Social determinants of health (SDoH) can impact outcomes but are not routinely screened for in US outpatient rheumatology clinics. This study determined the feasibility of routine point‐of‐care SDoH screening among patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and associated barriers and facilitators at the physician, care team, and ...

MAPKs signaling is obligatory for male reproductive function in a development-specific manner

open access: yesFrontiers in Reproductive Health
Mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs) represent widely expressed and evolutionarily conserved proteins crucial for governing signaling pathways and playing essential roles in mammalian male reproductive processes.

Non-Gaussian Signatures in the Temperature Fluctuation Observed by the Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe

open access: yes, 2004
We present results from a test for the Gaussianity of the whole sky sub-degree scale CMB temperature anisotropy measured by the Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe (WMAP).

Improvements in Health‐Related Quality of Life with Treat‐to‐Target Urate‐Lowering Therapy in Gout: A Post‐hoc Analysis of a Randomized Multicenter Trial

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Background While treat‐to‐target urate‐lowering therapy (ULT) is endorsed as best practice in gout management, limited data exist on its impact on health‐related quality of life (HRQoL). We assessed the impact of treat‐to‐target ULT on HRQoL among participants receiving protocolized gout care, identifying factors associated with HRQoL and HRQoL change.

Phenotyping for Genetic Improvement of Feed Efficiency in Fish: Lessons From Pig Breeding

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics, 2018
Feed incurs most of the cost of aquaculture production, so feed efficiency (FE) improvement is of great importance. Our aim is to use work done in pigs to formulate a logical framework for assessing the most useful component traits influencing feed ...
