Phenotyping for Genetic Improvement of Feed Efficiency in Fish: Lessons From Pig Breeding

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics, 2018
Feed incurs most of the cost of aquaculture production, so feed efficiency (FE) improvement is of great importance. Our aim is to use work done in pigs to formulate a logical framework for assessing the most useful component traits influencing feed ...

Neural Network Adaptive Control With Long Short‐Term Memory

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In this study, we propose a novel adaptive control architecture that provides dramatically better transient response performance compared to conventional adaptive control methods. This is accomplished by the synergistic employment of a traditional adaptive neural network (ANN) controller and a long short‐term memory (LSTM) network.

Genus permutations and genus partitions

open access: yesEnumerative Combinatorics and Applications
For a given permutation or set partition there is a natural way to assign a genus. Counting all permutations or partitions of a fixed genus according to cycle lengths or block sizes, respectively, is the main content of this article. After a variable transformation, the generating series are rational functions with poles located at the ramification ...

Genus Ranges of Chord Diagrams

open access: yes, 2014
A chord diagram consists of a circle, called the backbone, with line segments, called chords, whose endpoints are attached to distinct points on the circle.

Hyperoxia Induced Alteration of Chromatin Structure in Human Bone Marrow Derived Primary Mesenchymal Stromal Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
Chromatin, which organizes DNA, changes its structure to adapt to stress like high oxygen levels (hyperoxia), which can damage cells. Researchers developed a technique to observe these changes and found variability in how different parts of chromatin remodel.

Genus and cancellation

open access: yesTopology, 1975
IN HILTOK and ROITBERG [4]. an H-space E,, was constructed with the properties that E,,. x S3 ‘c Sp(2) x S3 and E,,, x E,w 5 Sp(2) x Sp(2), but yet E,w + Sp(2). That is, cancellation does not hold for the semi-group operation of Cartesian product on finite H-spaces, even up to homotopy type. It was clear from the construction however, that E,, and Sp(2)

The genus of curve, pants and flip graphs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
This article is about the graph genus of certain well studied graphs in surface theory: the curve, pants and flip graphs. We study both the genus of these graphs and the genus of their quotients by the mapping class group.

A Case‐Based Reasoning Approach to Model Manufacturing Constraints for Impact Extrusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A hybrid modeling approach is presented that combines constraint‐based process modeling and case‐based reasoning. The model formalizes manufacturing constraints and integrates simulation data to model complex manufacturing processes. The approach supports manufacturability analysis during product design through an adaptive modeling environment.
