In this essay I investigate how gender roles gets protrayed in the famous, swedishauthor Elsa Beskow’s picture books about the three aunts, Aunt Green, Aunt Brownand Aunt Lavender. The focus is on the main charcters which are the three aunts,Uncle Blue, Peter and Lotta and especially the picture book The adventures of Peterand Lotta.
