Living with geo-resources and geo-hazards

open access: yesOpen Access Government, 2015
Two of the key strategic topics on the European Committee’s Horizon2020 Roadmap revolve around geo-resources and geo-hazards, and their impact on societal and economic development. On the way towards a better policy for sustainable geo-resources production, such as oil, gas, geothermal energy and groundwater, as well as for geo-hazard risk management ...

Orbit to orbit transportation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1980
Orbital transfer vehicle propulsion options for SPS include both chemical (COTV) and electrical (EOTV) options. The proposed EOTV construction method is similar to that of the SPS and, by the addition of a transmitting antenna, may serve as a ...

A bioinformatics screen identifies TCF19 as an aggressiveness‐sustaining gene in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Gene expression meta‐analysis in multiple prostate cancer patient cohorts identifies Transcription factor 19 (TCF19) as an aggressiveness‐sustaining gene with prognostic potential. TCF19 is a gene repressed by androgen signaling that sustains core cancer‐related processes such as vascular permeability or tumor growth and metastasis.

Cross-View Image Matching for Geo-localization in Urban Environments

open access: yes, 2017
In this paper, we address the problem of cross-view image geo-localization. Specifically, we aim to estimate the GPS location of a query street view image by finding the matching images in a reference database of geo-tagged bird's eye view images, or ...

Geoportals: an internet marketing perspective [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
A geoportal is a web site that presents an entry point to geo-products (including geo-data) on the web. Despite their importance in (spatial) data infrastructures, literature suggest stagnating or even declining trends in visitor numbers.

Modeling hepatic fibrosis in TP53 knockout iPSC‐derived human liver organoids

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study developed iPSC‐derived human liver organoids with TP53 gene knockout to model human liver fibrosis. These organoids showed elevated myofibroblast activation, early disease markers, and advanced fibrotic hallmarks. The use of profibrotic differentiation medium further amplified the fibrotic signature seen in the organoids.

Status of GEO 600

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2015
The German-British laser-interferometric gravitational wave detector GEO 600 is in its 13th year of operation since its first lock in 2001. After participating in science runs with other first generation detectors, GEO\,600 has continued collecting data as an astrowatch instrument with a duty cycle of 62% during the time when the other detectors have ...

Patient‐specific pharmacogenomics demonstrates xCT as predictive therapeutic target in colon cancer with possible implications in tumor connectivity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study integrates transcriptomic profiling of matched tumor and healthy tissues from 32 colorectal cancer patients with functional validation in patient‐derived organoids, revealing dysregulated metabolic programs driven by overexpressed xCT (SLC7A11) and SLC3A2, identifying an oncogenic cystine/glutamate transporter signature linked to ...

Evaluation of the Effects of Radiation, Irradiance, and Temperature on Solar Cell Electrical Characteristics and Extraction of Maximum Solar Panel Power by MPPT [PDF]

open access: yesفصلنامه علوم و فناوری فضایی, 2008
In this paper, the effects of orbital–environmental parameters on the maximum delivered power of silicon solar cells in various orbits are investigated. The survey consists of the effects of radiation, irradiance, and temperature on solar cell electrical
