Hypersurface Constrained Elasticae in Lorentzian Space Forms
We study geodesics in hypersurfaces of a Lorentzian space form M1n+1(c), which are critical curves of the M1n+1(c)-bending energy functional, for variations constrained to lie on the hypersurface. We characterize critical geodesics showing that they live

Abstract The management strategy for the Antarctic krill (Euphausia superba) fishery is being revised. A key aim is to spatially and temporally allocate catches in a manner that minimizes impacts to both the krill stock and dependent predators. This process requires spatial information on the distribution and abundance of krill, yet gaps exist for an ...

Reconstructing volatility: Pricing of index options under rough volatility
Abstract Avellaneda et al. (2002, 2003) pioneered the pricing and hedging of index options – products highly sensitive to implied volatility and correlation assumptions – with large deviations methods, assuming local volatility dynamics for all components of the index.

Regularity and separation for Grušin‐type p‐Laplace operators
Abstract We analyze p‐Laplace type operators with degenerate elliptic coefficients. This investigation includes Grušin‐type p‐Laplace operators. We describe a separation phenomenon in elliptic and parabolic p‐Laplace type equations, which provide an illuminating illustration of simple jump discontinuities of the corresponding weak solutions ...

Geodesics on an ellipsoid in Minkowski space [PDF]
We describe the geometry of geodesics on a Lorentz ellipsoid: give explicit formulas for the first integrals (pseudo-confocal coordinates), curvature, geodesically equivalent Riemannian metric, the invariant area-forms on the time- and space-like geodesics and invariant 1-form on the space of null geodesics.

ABSTRACT To address the challenge of parallel parking in narrow environments, a multi‐segment path planning method is proposed for autonomous unmanned vehicles (AUVs), which integrates circular arc and dual clothoid curves, ensuring continuous path curvature and minimal longitudinal space occupancy.

In this paper, we proposes an algorithm to approximate the Geodesic distance between points p and q of sphere, through the numerical solution of initial value problem associated with the system of ordinary differential equations of the geodesics; for ...

Active Layer Warming and Thickening on CALM‐S JGM, James Ross Island, in the Period 2013/14–2022/23
ABSTRACT The Circumpolar Active Layer Monitoring‐South (CALM‐S) site was established near the Johann Gregor Mendel (JGM) research station on James Ross Island in February 2014. The CALM‐S JGM grid, measuring 80 × 70 m, encompasses two distinct lithological units: a Holocene marine terrace (covering approximately 75% of the grid) and Cretaceous ...

GEOMETRIC ANALYSIS OF PLANAR SHAPES WITH APPLICATIONS TO CELL DEFORMATIONS
Shape analysis is of great importance in many fields such as computer vision, medical imaging, and computational biology. In this paper we focus on a shape space in which shapes are represented by means of planar closed curves.

Existence of periodic orbits for geodesible vector fields on closed 3-manifolds [PDF]
In this paper we deal with the existence of periodic orbits of geodesible vector fields on closed 3-manifolds. A vector field is geodesible if there exists a Riemannian metric on the ambient manifold making its orbits geodesics. In particular, Reeb vector fields and vector fields that admit a global section are geodesible. We will classify the closed 3-
