A Nash-Hormander iteration and boundary elements for the Molodensky problem

open access: yes, 2013
We investigate the numerical approximation of the nonlinear Molodensky problem, which reconstructs the surface of the earth from the gravitational potential and the gravity vector.

Interpretation of geodesy experiments in non-Newtonian theories of gravity [PDF]

open access: yesClassical and quantum gravity, 2018
This paper revisits deviations from Newtonian gravity described by a Yukawa interaction that can arise from the existence of a finite range fifth force.

A continuous 500‐year sediment record of inundation by local and distant tsunamis in South‐Central Chile (40.1°S)

open access: yesThe Depositional Record, EarlyView.
Tsunami events over the past 500 years inundated Laguna Gemela West (Chile), leading to distinct sandy deposits in the lake record. This provides a complete perspective on tsunami inundation, including giant tsunamis, small local tsunamis and tsunamis that originated >100 km away from the site.

Efficient analysis and representation of geophysical processes using localized spherical basis functions

open access: yes, 2009
While many geological and geophysical processes such as the melting of icecaps, the magnetic expression of bodies emplaced in the Earth's crust, or the surface displacement remaining after large earthquakes are spatially localized, many of these ...

Correcting environmental sampling bias improves transferability of species distribution models

open access: yesEcography, EarlyView.
Sampling bias is an inherent problem in widely available biodiversity data, undermining the robustness of correlative species distribution models (SDMs). To some extent, subsampling occurrence data can account for uneven sampling efforts; yet, conventional approaches subsample in geographical space, while subsampling in environmental space remains ...

Space-Time Reference with an Optical Link

open access: yes, 2015
We describe a method for realizing a high-performance Space-Time Reference (STR) using a stable atomic clock in a precisely defined orbit and synchronizing the orbiting clock to high-accuracy atomic clocks on the ground.

Successful School‐to‐Training Transitions—Can Individual Goal‐Striving Resources Compensate for Structural Obstacles in the Local Context?

open access: yesJournal of Adolescence, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction While it is well‐established that structural obstacles such as low local employment opportunities negatively affect adolescents’ school‐to‐work transitions, the impact of individual agency in relation to these obstacles is understudied.

Employee Anxiety and Job Satisfaction: The Mediating Roles of Workload and Work Stress

open access: yesGlobal Business and Organizational Excellence, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Drawing on the job demands‐resources (JD‐R) model and affective events theory, this study empirically evaluates the effect of employee anxiety among employees required to work from home on their work stress, workload, and job satisfaction. The existing literature on working from home is inconclusive, and this study aims to fill this gap.
