El chañar (Geoffroea decorticans) es un árbol de la familia de las Fabáceas de corteza verde amarillenta y fruto dulce y comestible. Su madera es apta para carpintería, carbón y leña. Se desarrolla preferentemente en los albardones de losríos y bajos inundables temporalmente, conformando en ocasiones, pequeños bosquecillos llamados chañarales.
