Optimization of the Quantification of Antibiotic Resistance Genes in Media from the Yangtze River Estuary

open access: yesToxics
Antibiotic resistance gene (ARG) monitoring in environmental systems increasingly relies on DNA-based molecular approaches; however, the extent to which DNA extraction strategies bias downstream resistome interpretation remains insufficiently understood.

Consensus Formation and Change are Enhanced by Neutrality

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Neutral agents are shown to enhance both the formation and overturning of consensus in collective decision‐making. A general mathematical model and experiments with locusts and humans reveal that neutrality enables robust consensus via simple interactions and accelerates consensus change by reducing effective population size.

Geochemical characteristics of spring water in Baishuitai of Yunnan and their indicative significance on climatic environment

open access: yesCarsologica Sinica
Understanding the geochemical characteristics and dynamic changes of groundwater (e.g., springs, etc.) is an important scientific reference for accurately interpreting the paleoclimatic and environmental information on karst deposits (e.g., stalagmites ...

Dissecting the Ecological Structure of Health and Disease in the Global Gut Microbiome

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We introduce Wiredancer, a framework that identifies three continuous ecological factors of the gut microbiota. These factors exhibit distinct patterns across health and disease, jointly capturing disrupted ecological stability and offering a new perspective for precision diagnostics and therapeutic strategies.

Continuing geographic education model contribution to environmental culture development

open access: yesTransformación, 2014
Low levels of geographic culture and educations were found in schools and communities caused by formal education systems shortcomings, poor geographic educative influence aside learning institutions, and lose comprehension of individual and social needs.

Initial Estimates of Soil Mercury Emissions Induced by Soil Heating During Global Wildfires

open access: yesEarth's Future
Wildfires, increasingly frequent extreme events driven by global change, have significantly accelerated the release of mercury (Hg) stored in soils. However, a systematic quantification of Hg emissions from topsoil heating during global wildfires has ...

3D Chromatin Architecture Provides Insights Into Leaf Trait Variation Among Pear Species

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Three‐dimensional (3D) chromatin architecture plays a fundamental role in eukaryotic gene regulations, its functional significance in perennial fruit trees remains poorly characterized despite extensive applications in crop genomics. Here, we developed high‐resolution (∼5 kb) Hi‐C maps of Pyrus and compared 3D genomic architecture of three ...

Mapping Antarctic Blue Ice Areas With Sentinel-2A/B Images and LightGBM Model

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing
Antarctic blue ice plays a crucial role in surface energy balance and paleoclimate research. A high-accuracy and comprehensive dataset of blue ice areas (BIAs) is essential for understanding climate dynamics and environmental changes in the region. While

Natural Variation of NAR5 Determines Nitrogenase Activity and the Yield in Soybean

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identified NAR5, a gene encoding a subtilisin‐like protease, that regulates nitrogenase activity in soybean nodules. Overexpressing NAR5 delayed nodule senescence, enhancing nitrogenase activity, yield, and low‐nitrogen tolerance. The elite haplotype NAR5HapI‐1 linked to superior nitrogenase activity and greater seed weight has been ...
