A framework for models of movement in geographic space [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Geographical Information Science, 2015
This article concerns the theoretical foundations of movement informatics. We discuss general frameworks in which models of spatial movement may be developed. In particular, the article considers the object–field and Lagrangian–Eulerian dichotomies, and the SNAP/SPAN ontologies of the dynamic world, and classifies the variety of informatic structures ...

From Lab to Landscape: Environmental Biohybrid Robotics for Ecological Futures

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This Perspective explores environmental biohybrid robotics, integrating living tissues, microorganisms, and insects for operation in real‐world ecosystems. It traces the leap from laboratory experiments to forests, wetlands, and urban environments and discusses key challenges, development pathways, and opportunities for ecological monitoring and ...

Consensus Formation and Change are Enhanced by Neutrality

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Neutral agents are shown to enhance both the formation and overturning of consensus in collective decision‐making. A general mathematical model and experiments with locusts and humans reveal that neutrality enables robust consensus via simple interactions and accelerates consensus change by reducing effective population size.

Izvedba univerzalne ontologije geografskega prostora v podmnožici predikatnega računa prvega reda : Application of universal ontology of geographic space in a subset of the first-order predicate calculus [PDF]

open access: yesGeodetski Vestnik, 2012
Prostorski podatkovni viri, kot so geodetski referenčni sistem, administrativne prostorske enote, naslovi in topografske teme, so v vseh prostorskih podatkovnih zbirkah podlaga za zajem podatkov in položajno umeščanje tematskih podatkov v prostoru ...

Dissecting the Ecological Structure of Health and Disease in the Global Gut Microbiome

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We introduce Wiredancer, a framework that identifies three continuous ecological factors of the gut microbiota. These factors exhibit distinct patterns across health and disease, jointly capturing disrupted ecological stability and offering a new perspective for precision diagnostics and therapeutic strategies.

3D Chromatin Architecture Provides Insights Into Leaf Trait Variation Among Pear Species

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Three‐dimensional (3D) chromatin architecture plays a fundamental role in eukaryotic gene regulations, its functional significance in perennial fruit trees remains poorly characterized despite extensive applications in crop genomics. Here, we developed high‐resolution (∼5 kb) Hi‐C maps of Pyrus and compared 3D genomic architecture of three ...
