The Geological Significance of the Geoid
Annual Review of Earth and Planetary Sciences, 1985data are being used to study terrestrial phenomena at scales from tens of thousands of kilometers down to hundreds or even tens of kilometers. This paper focuses on the interpretation of global gravity in the form of the geoid and concentrates on what has already been learned from it about the structure of the Earth at long-to-intermed iate wavelengths.
