Modeling and Predicting the Short‐Term Evolution of the Geomagnetic Field [PDF]
AbstractWe propose a reduced dynamical system describing the coupled evolution of fluid flow and magnetic field at the top of the Earth's core between the years 1900 and 2014. The flow evolution is modeled with a first‐order autoregressive process, while the magnetic field obeys the classical frozen flux equation.

Recovering external contribution from the monthly mean series of a given geomagnetic observatory
The differences between monthly mean values of the observed geomagnetic field and monthly values predicted by different models of the internal geomagnetic field (named “model biases”) for the time period 2000-2015 at several geomagnetic observatories are

A Model of the Geomagnetic Field at Epoch 1975 [PDF]
Summary The main magnetic field at epoch 1975 is defined by 168 spherical harmonic coefficients (those representing the internal part to degree and order 12). A further 80 coefficients (degree and order 8) define the secular variation and, in addition, 26 secular acceleration coefficients (those most significantly determined) are included.

Sudden commencement event of 17 April 2002: Aspects of the geomagnetic response at low latitudes [PDF]
An analysis of a sudden commencement (SC) manifestation reveals a significant contribution of the polar current system which influences the long-term behavior of the H component at low-latitude ground stations located in the subsolar sector. A transition

Modeling of regional magnetic field applying spherical functions: practical aspect
Modeling of geomagnetic field and creation of geomagnetic maps is one of the main directions of geomagnetic studies. For constructing global model the global spherical Lejeandre functions are used in most cases, though for constructing regional magnetic ...

Monitoring the plasmapause using geomagnetic field line resonances [PDF]
This paper discusses the use of ground magnetometer data to derive plasma mass density profiles of the dayside plasmapause region with spatial and temporal resolution in the range 0.15-0.4 R-E and 20-60 min.

Scaling and a Fokker-Planck model for fluctuations in geomagnetic indices and comparison with solar wind as seen by Wind and ACE [PDF]
The evolution of magnetospheric indices on temporal scales shorter than that of substorms is characterized by bursty, intermittent events that may arise from turbulence intrinsic to the magnetosphere or that may reflect solar wind-magnetosphere coupling.

Report on the magnetic survey in Slovakia for the 2014.5 epoch
The models of the distribution of the elements of the geomagnetic field must be updated regularly. For this purpose geomagnetic measurements have to be carried out repeatedly at geomagnetic observatories as well as at temporary observation points.
