Optimal Ground‐Based Anchor Placements for Least‐Squares Multilateration
We investigate the optimal placement of ground‐based anchors for three‐dimensional multilateration using a least‐squares approach. By analysing the error variance under the equidistance assumption, we derive a target‐independent cost function and propose optimal placements for both norm‐constrained and boundary‐constrained scenarios.

Indoor localization is a significant research area in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). Generally, the nodes of WSNs are deployed in the same plane, i.e., the floor, as the target to be positioned, which causes the sensing signal to be influenced or even ...

Research on Direction Cooperative Localization Model and Error Analysis for Manned–Unmanned Aircraft
To achieve cooperative reconnaissance and localization of manned and unmanned aircraft, based on the traditional direction‐finding cross‐localization method, a direction cooperative localization model has been developed based on different baseline criteria. Compared with the traditional methods which require the reconnaissance platforms locating at the

Dilution of Position Calculation for Accuracy Improvement in Wireless Location Systems
Geometric dilution of precision (GDOP) represents the geometric effect on the relationship between measurement error and positioning determination error. In the calculation of GDOP value, the maximum volume method does not guarantee the optimal selection

Deghosting method for cross localization in distributed high frequency surface wave radar
To address the ghosts emerging during the cross localization in a novel distributed high frequency surface wave system, a multi‐stage deghosting method is utilized, which is based on the geometric characteristics, the velocity features, and the motion features of the targets across multiple frames.

Comparing Positioning Performance of LEO Mega-Constellations and GNSS in Urban Canyons
The use of Low Earth Orbit (LEO) mega-constellations for Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) services has attracted a great deal of interest, as they could complement the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) in specific conditions/environments.

Reservoirs are highly relevant infrastructure assets, and now, more than ever, they play an essential role in society’s welfare and national security. Their importance is related to regional socioeconomic development due to their capacity to store water for different uses, such as human consumption, agricultural irrigation, flood control, and ...

Geometric quality term for station-based total electron content estimation
Global ionospheric maps (GIMs) are still commonly used to represent total electron content (TEC). However, a large number of permanent GPS receivers provide significant data for monitoring ionosphere.

GDOP Bounds for GNSS Augmented with Range Information
Code phase GNSS receivers convert the measured satellite pseudoranges into estimates of the position and clock offset of the receiver, typically via an iterative, linearized least squares method. Since the pseudoranges themselves are noisy, the resulting

An Airport Surface Target Static/Motion States Test Method Applied by MLAT Surveillance System
:Under the influence of GDOP(Geometric Dilution of Precision),the localization noise of MLAT system relate directly to target's geometric position, which will degrade the performance of traditional test method. This paper proposes a test method of target
