Sustainable bioplastics manufacturing from renewable sources

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Bioplastics are manufactured by using polymers from different bio‐based sources. These novel materials not only offer biodegradability but also possess various functional properties that make them suitable for diverse applications. Recent developments in the preparation of bioplastics are reported, highlighting the distinct properties of each type of ...

Enzymatic degradation of biopolymers in amorphous and molten states: mechanisms and applications

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This review explains how polymer morphology and thermal state shape enzymatic degradation pathways, comparing amorphous and molten biopolymer structures. By integrating structure–reactivity principles with insights from thermodynamics and enzyme engineering, it highlights mechanisms that enable efficient polymer breakdown.

The distribution of the prevalence of ocular chlamydial infection in communities where trachoma is disappearing

open access: yesEpidemics, 2015
Mathematical models predict that the prevalence of infection in different communities where an infectious disease is disappearing should approach a geometric distribution.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

The Complementary Exponentiated Exponential Geometric Lifetime Distribution

open access: yesJournal of Probability and Statistics, 2013
We proposed a new family of lifetime distributions, namely, complementary exponentiated exponential geometric distribution. This new family arises on a latent competing risk scenario, where the lifetime associated with a particular risk is not observable

A New Bivariate Distribution Obtained by Compounding the Bivariate Normal and Geometric Distributions [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Statistical Theory and Applications (JSTA), 2017
Recently, Mahmoudi and Mahmoodian [7] introduced a new class of distributions which contains univariate normal–geometric distribution as a special case.

Mixtures of Geometric Distributions

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Statistical Society Series B: Statistical Methodology, 1961
SUMMARY The representation of a discrete distribution as a mixture of geometric distributions is discussed and applied to busy period distributions in equilibrium queueing systems.

Quasi Lindley Geometric Distribution

open access: yesInternational Journal of Computer Applications, 2014
paper, we introduce a new class of lifetime distributions which is called the Quasi Lindley Geometric (QLG) distribution. This distribution obtained by compounding the Quasi Lindley and geometric distributions. Some structural properties of the proposed new distribution are discussed, including probability density function and explicit algebraic ...

Development of a Prediction Model for Progression Risk in High‐Grade Gliomas Based on Habitat Radiomics and Pathomics

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To investigate the value of constructing models based on habitat radiomics and pathomics for predicting the risk of progression in high‐grade gliomas. Methods This study conducted a retrospective analysis of preoperative magnetic resonance (MR) images and pathological sections from 72 patients diagnosed with high‐grade gliomas (52 ...

Geometric Distribution Weight Information Modeled Using Radial Basis Function with Fractional Order for Linear Discriminant Analysis Method

open access: yesAdvances in Mathematical Physics, 2013
Fisher linear discriminant analysis (FLDA) is a classic linear feature extraction and dimensionality reduction approach for face recognition. It is known that geometric distribution weight information of image data plays an important role in machine ...
