Post-Buckling of Geometrically Imperfect Plates
Journal of the Structural Division, 1972Explicit expressions are derived for the collapse and elastic post-buckling of simply supported, geometrically imperfect plates with stress-free edges. For the purposes of design, such plates can be taken as representative of the stiffened compression elements of thin-walled structural sections.

Deformations of Geometrically Imperfect Beams
Journal of the Structural Division, 1969The effects of a number of representative types of imperfection on the elastic deformations of simply supported I-beams with either equal end moments or central concentrated load are investigated, and it is shown that each of these imperfections can be approximated by an equivalent sinusoidal initial crookedness or twist.

Stability of Euler-Bernoulli Beams with Geometric Imperfection
6th International Students Science Congress Proceedings Book, 2022In this study, we have focused on slightly curved beams which can be used in various fields such as bridges, sensors, pipes, roofs etc. Beams with curvature can be classified as slightly curved or curved only. In slightly curved beams, curvature and beam’s displacement are considered in the same order.

The influence of geometrical imperfections in the method of caustics
Engineering Fracture Mechanics, 1983Abstract The influence of locally varying specimen thickness on the shape of the shadow spot and, hence, on the stress intensity factor is of first order but for all practical cases comparable with the experimental data scatter.

On the Geometrical Imperfections in Cylindrical Roller Bearings
Journal of Tribology, 1988Computer simulations of the dynamics performance of roller bearings, as obtained by the computer code ADORE, are used to model the infuence of race out-of-roundness, race taper and centrality of land on partly crowned rollers. Both oil and solid lubricated high-speed roller bearings are considered and the overall performance parameters, such as ...

On geometric reduction of age or intensity models for imperfect maintenance
Reliability Engineering & System Safety, 2017Abstract There is an extensive literature on imperfect maintenance models. Among them, we have proposed in Doyen and Gaudoin (2004) [13] the classes of ARA and ARI models. These models express the effect of maintenance by an Arithmetic Reduction of Age (for ARA models) and an Arithmetic Reduction of Intensity (for ARI models).

The buckling loads of shell structures and shell-like space frames are very sensitive to initial geometric imperfections. Previous studies focused on estimating the lower bound of the load-carrying capacity of reticulated shells. This paper proposes a new method for modelling structural geometrical imperfections based on random field theory. The method

IMPROVEMENT OF SAFTEY OF COLUMNS WITH GEOMETRICAL IMPERFECTIONS IN FRAME STRUCTURES
8th International Professional and Scientific Conference Occupational safety and health, 2022In this paper derivation of differential equation describing buckling of a column with initial geometrical imperfections and variable cross – section is presented. The column geometry (the cross section) is changeable (variable), for the purpose of achieving higher load carrying capacity at given load set with optimizing the material quantity.

On Loads Equivalent to Geometrical Imperfections in Shells
Journal of Engineering Mechanics, 1993The equations that define the load equivalent to an imperfection in the geometry (in the form of a deviation from the as-designed midsurface) of a thin shallow shell are considered. The present formulation defines initial displacements and an initial strain field in order to model the imperfection.

Geometrical Imperfections on Inelastic Frame Behavior
Journal of Structural Engineering, 1992A methodology for the analysis of geometrically imperfect framed structures that takes into consideration geometrical and material nonlinearities is presented. The analysis is an extension of the pseudo-load method for geometrical and material nonlinear frame analysis by Lui in 1988, and Lui and Zhang in 1990.
