Engineering peptides into antibodies—opportunities and strategies for therapeutic innovation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Peptides and antibodies occupy complementary therapeutic niches. Peptides recognize difficult targets in a compact format, while antibodies add specificity, long half‐life, and effector functions. This review examines strategies that merge both modalities—peptide grafting into loops, terminal and Fc fusions, and bioconjugation—highlighting how ...

Aspects of random geometric graphs: Pursuit-evasion and treewidth [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In this thesis, we studied two aspects of random geometric graphs: pursuit-evasion and treewidth. We first studied one pursuit-evasion game: Cops and Robbers. This game, which dates back to 1970s, are studied extensively in recent years.

On Second-Order Fading Statistics of Multi-Antenna 3-D Vehicular Communication Channels

open access: yesIEEE Access
Incorporating systems that have multiple antennas with an inherent capability of reconfigurable beam patterns can enhance vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communications in 6G networks by taking advantage of favorable channel conditions.

Structures of mycobacterial 3‐methylcrotonyl‐CoA carboxylase reveal carrier‐domain translocation between catalytic sites

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mycobacterial 3‐methylcrotonyl‐CoA carboxylase uses a mobile biotin‐carrying domain to shuttle a carboxyl group between two catalytic sites, enabling carboxylation of 3‐methylcrotonyl‐CoA during leucine breakdown. Cryo‐electron microscopy captures the carrier at both sites and reveals an inward loop movement that may prevent futile rebinding to the ...

Prospecting the protein design landscape

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review outlines the current state of various protein design approaches. We discuss the current possibilities enabled by recently released tools, highlight future avenues to pursue in protein design, and underscore the crucial role of key databases and resources for successful protein design workflows.

Data-Driven Planning Phase of Maritime SAR Using Satellite Observations

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Maritime search and rescue operations rely on accurate drift predictions to define effective search areas for missing persons. Existing systems often depict uncertainty using statistical ellipses or ensemble-based probability maps, which may not ...

Voxel-Based 3D Object Reconstruction from Single 2D Image Using Variational Autoencoders

open access: yesMathematics, 2021
In recent years, learning-based approaches for 3D reconstruction have gained much popularity due to their encouraging results. However, unlike 2D images, 3D cannot be represented in its canonical form to make it computationally lean and memory-efficient.

Smaller is better: nanobodies meet NMR

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nanobodies are single‐domain antigen‐binding fragments derived from camelid heavy chain antibodies. Their small size, high stability, and exceptional specificity make nanobodies uniquely useful probes for NMR studies of protein dynamics, transient conformational states, and protein–protein interactions.
