A Degradable Bioinspired Flier with Aerogel‐Based Colorimetric Sensors for Environmental Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Biodegradable fliers are developed inspired by Tipuana tipu samaras, integrating cellulose nanocrystal aerogel (CNCa) sensors loaded with natural dyes for pH and ammonia detection. The lightweight, degradable fliers mimic natural morphology and aerodynamics, offering an eco‐friendly, scalable solution for in situ environmental monitoring after passive ...

Adaptive plasticity in the mouse mandible [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
BACKGROUND: Plasticity, i.e. non-heritable morphological variation, enables organisms to modify the shape of their skeletal tissues in response to varying environmental stimuli.

Hyperviscous Diabetic Bone Marrow Niche Impairs BMSCs Osteogenesis via TRPV2‐Mediated Cytoskeletal‐Nuclear Mechanotransduction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Diabetic bone marrow exhibits pathological ECM hyperviscosity that activates TRPV2‐mediated Ca2⁺ influx, leading to perinuclear F‐actin disassembly, nuclear deformation, and chromatin condensation. This cytoskeletal‐nuclear decoupling suppresses osteogenic differentiation of BMSCs.

Landmark based morphometric variation in Common dolphin (Delphinus delphis L.,1758) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In this study we compare Mediterranean stocks of Delphinus delphis (L., 1758) with other populations of the same species coming from different seas using a geometric morphometrics method.

DEL‐1 is an Endogenous Senolytic Protein that Inhibits Senescence‐Associated Bone Loss

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Senescent bone marrow stromal cells accumulate in the aging bone microenvironment, promoting bone degeneration. DEL‐1, an endogenous secreted protein, acts as a natural senolytic that selectively eliminates these cells. By engaging a β3 integrin/CD73/adenosine/p38 MAPK/BCL‐2 pathway, DEL‐1 counters aging‐related bone loss, revealing promising ...

Wing Geometric Morphometrics of Workers and Drones and Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms Provide Similar Genetic Structure in the Iberian Honey Bee (Apis mellifera iberiensis)

open access: yesInsects, 2020
Wing geometric morphometrics has been applied to honey bees (Apis mellifera) in identification of evolutionary lineages or subspecies and, to a lesser extent, in assessing genetic structure within subspecies.

Material‐Induced Nuclear Deformation Controls Chromatin Architecture in Adipose Stem Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Tuning cell and cytoskeleton mechanics modulated nuclear shape and heterochromatin organization in ASCs. Distinct cytoskeletal architectures induced nuclear morphologies from oblate to prolate ellipsoids. Large elongated cells with a structured actin cap exhibited high nuclear strain, driving nuclear envelope deformation and heterochromatin ...

Integrated Microfluidic Platform for High‐Throughput Generation of Intestinal Organoids in Hydrogel Droplets

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Organoid research offers valuable insights into human biology and disease, but reproducibility and scalability remain significant challenges, particularly for epithelial organoids. Here, we present an integrated microfluidic platform that addresses these limitations by enabling high‐throughput generation of uniform hydrogel microparticles ...
