Geometric Mosaic Pavements of Yasileh in Jordan

Palestine Exploration Quarterly, 2010
AbstractThe site of Yasileh in northern Jordan has two churches from the Byzantine period. In the church on the western bank of the Wadi Yasileh, dated to the middle of the 5th or the beginning of the 6th century AD, we uncovered one of the most impressive and best preserved mosaic pavements with geometric patterns in the Near East.

Geometric References of Roman Mosaics in North Africa

Nexus Network Journal, 2019
This paper deals with the geometric analysis of the Roman mosaics found in the domūs of the archaeological areas of Volubilis, in Morocco, and Bulla Regia, in Tunisia. It analyzes the expressions of mosaic art which in the Roman Empire, between the second and fourth centuries A.D., attained a particular geometric decorative refinement. The tessellation

Geometric measures for random mosaics in spherical spaces

Stochastics and Stochastic Reports, 1994
This paper deals with isotropic random mosaics of S d-1whose cells are piecewise smooth. As geometric measures concentrated on the i-skeleton the i-dimensional surface area (volume) measure and (i — 1) different curvature measures are chosen. Relations between the corresponding densities are found.

Mosaicing of microscope images with global geometric and radiometric corrections

Journal of Microscopy, 2006
SummaryImage mosaicing has found a number of applications such as panoramic imaging, digital terrain mapping, ophthalmology and virtual microscopy. In this study, we present an automated mosaicing technique for generating virtual slides from microscope images.

Mosaic models for images—II. Geometric properties of components in coverage mosaics

Information Sciences, 1981
Abstract This paper deals with digital patterns generated by a class of random geometric processes proposed as models for images. It derives expressions for the expected area and width of a connected component, the expected number of components, and the expected total perimeter, in such patterns.

Mosaic models for images—I. Geometric properties of components in cell-structure mosaics

Information Sciences, 1981
Abstract This paper deals with digital patterns generated by a class of random geometric processes proposed as models for images. It derives expressions for the expected area and width of a connected component, the expected number of components, and the expected total perimeter in such patterns. Experiments conducted to verify some of the results are

Geometric effects in piezodialysis through charge-mosaic membranes

Desalination, 1972
Abstract An explicit but highly schematic theory of the effect of the heterogeneity of charge-mosaic membranes on piezodialysis is given. An effect exists because the ions being transported through different parts of the membrane leave the feed bath at different points and also arrive in the filtrate bath at different points.
