Geometrical Optics Approximation for Nonlinear Equations
SIAM Journal on Applied Mathematics, 2004Summary: A wide class of nonlinear equations is studied in the geometrical optics approximation. It is shown that a nonlinear equation with coefficients dependent on the amplitude of the function sought can be reduced to a system of quasi-linear equations of the gas-dynamics type.

Benchtests for geometric nonlinearity
Computers & Structures, 1989Abstract This paper describes a set of geometrically nonlinear problems involving simple truss finite elements with a maximum of three degrees-of-freedom. These are designed to introduce new users of nonlinear finite element packages to the concepts of limit points, bifurcations and multiple equilibrium paths, and the influence that such phenomena ...

Nonlinear Geometrical Acoustics
1975Abstract : The development of the theory of nonlinear wave propagation in both bounded and semi-infinite dissipative media is followed from its origins in the theories of linear geometrical acoustics, simple waves, and acceleration fronts. In Part I, Sections 2 to 5, we consider examples in which only one component wave is excited and describe the ...

A Geometrically Nonlinear Theory of Elastic Plates
Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1992A set of kinematical and intrinsic equilibrium equations are derived for plates undergoing large deflection and rotation but with small strain. The large rotation is handled by means of the general finite rotation of a frame in which the material points that are originally along a normal line in the undeformedplate undergo only small displacements. The

Geometrically Nonlinear Theories
2020This chapter starts with discussing various hypotheses, and the differences between these hypotheses are outlined. Afterwards, the mathematical preliminaries, including position vectors, covariant and contravariant base vectors, Christoffel symbols, shifter tensor, curvature tensor, etc., will be defined and discussed.

Generalizing Geometric ICA to Nonlinear Settings
2003In this paper, a geometry-based algorithm for nonlinear blind source separation is presented. The mixture space is decomposed in a set of concentric rings, in which ordinary linear ICA is performed in order to get a set of images of ring points under the original mixing mapping. Putting those together the mixing mapping can be reconstructed.
