Geometric Approach to Nonlinear Adaptive Control

2007 4th International Symposium on Applied Computational Intelligence and Informatics, 2007
In this paper a brief survey is provided on a novel approach to adaptive nonlinear control developed at Budapest Tech in the past few years. Since this problem tackling is mainly based on simple geometric and algebraic considerations a brief historical summary is given on the antecedents to exemplify the advantages of geometric way of thinking in ...

Nonlinear Geometric Estimation for Satellite Attitude

Journal of Guidance, Control, and Dynamics, 2008
A novel algorithm for efficient high-accuracy satellite attitude estimation is presented to address the increasing performance requirements of resource-constrained small satellites. The algorithm results from an investigation of the Bayesian nonlinear estimation problem based on the phase-space geometry of Hamiltonian systems.

Nonlinear Geometric Control

2004
Most chemical processes display nonlinear behaviour, whether they are chemical or biological reactors, neutralization reactors and distillation columns. To control their operation around a steady-state point, a linear model, obtained by linearization or identification, is frequently used for designing the control law.

Algebraic and Geometric Methods in Nonlinear Filtering

SIAM Journal on Control and Optimization, 1984
This article surveys algebraic and geometric methods in nonlinear filtering. The central equation for study is the Duncan-Mortensen-Zakai equation of nonlinear filtering. The major discussion centers around nonlinear systems and Lie algebraic methods. A number of examples are given that exhibit finite dimensional filters or the nonexistence of finite ...

Topology Optimization of Structures With Geometrical Nonlinearities

Volume 2: 26th Design Automation Conference, 2000
Abstract In this paper, the stiffness optimization problem is investigated for structures with geometrical nonlinearities. The mean compliance of the structure is chosen as the objective function and its sensitivities are derived using the adjoint method. The optimal problem is formulated using a microstructure-based design domain method

Nonlinear Geometrical Optics

1991
Using asymptotic methods, one can reduce complicated systems of equations to simpler model equations. The model equation for a single, genuinely nonlinear, hyperbolic wave is Burgers equation. Reducing the gas dynamics equations to a Burgers equation, leads to a theory of nonlinear geometrical acoustics. When diffractive effects are included, the model

Geometric Nonlinear Control

1999
In this chapter, we give the reader a brief introduction to controllability and observability of nonlinear systems. We discuss topics of constructive controllability for nonlinear systems, that is, algorithms for steering the system from a specified initial state to a specified final state.

A Nonlinear 3D Geometric Tongue Model

2018 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), 2018
This study describes a nonlinear geometric tongue model based on MRI and Cone-beam CT (CBCT) data. Comparing with the conventional geometric tongue model, the proposed tongue model is controlled by several prototype vertices, and the relationship between tongue mesh vertices and prototype vertices are modeled with quadratic functions.

Geometric modeling of nonlinear RLC circuits

IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems I: Regular Papers, 2005
In this paper, the dynamics of nonlinear RLC circuits including independent and controlled voltage or current sources is described using the Brayton-Moser equations. The underlying geometric structure is highlighted and it is shown that the Brayton-Moser equations can be written as a dynamical system with respect to a noncanonical Dirac structure.
