SmallTalk: a novel small‐sized fusion tag for peptide expression and purification

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The SmallTalk fusion tag allows for the efficient expression and purification of soluble recombinant proteins or peptides in Escherichia coli. Testing with SmallTalk‐GFP confirmed that the proteins were soluble and folded correctly, while SmallTalk‐Bin1b maintained its antimicrobial activity against various bacterial isolates. This streamlined workflow

Weakly Nonlinear Geometric Optics for Hyperbolic Systems of Conservation Laws [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We present a new approach to analyze the validation of weakly nonlinear geometric optics for entropy solutions of nonlinear hyperbolic systems of conservation laws whose eigenvalues are allowed to have constant multiplicity and corresponding ...

Development of a Prediction Model for Progression Risk in High‐Grade Gliomas Based on Habitat Radiomics and Pathomics

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To investigate the value of constructing models based on habitat radiomics and pathomics for predicting the risk of progression in high‐grade gliomas. Methods This study conducted a retrospective analysis of preoperative magnetic resonance (MR) images and pathological sections from 72 patients diagnosed with high‐grade gliomas (52 ...

Classical Light Beams and Geometric Phases

open access: yes, 2013
We present a study of geometric phases in classical wave and polarisation optics using the basic mathematical framework of quantum mechanics. Important physical situations taken from scalar wave optics, pure polarisation optics, and the behaviour of ...

The Fourier U(2) Group and Separation of Discrete Variables [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The linear canonical transformations of geometric optics on two-dimensional screens form the group $Sp(4,R)$, whose maximal compact subgroup is the Fourier group $U(2)_F$; this includes isotropic and anisotropic Fourier transforms, screen rotations and ...

Feasibility and Tolerability of Performing Portable MRI for Neurological Disorders in an Outpatient Neurology Clinic: A Prospective Cohort

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Accessing brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can be challenging, especially for underserved patients, which may lead to disparities in neurological diagnosis. Method This mixed‐methods study enrolled adults with one of four neurological disorders: mild cognitive impairment or dementia of the Alzheimer type, multiple sclerosis ...

Geometrical Consistency Modeling on B-Spline Parameter Domain for 3D Face Reconstruction From Limited Number of Wild Images

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurorobotics, 2021
A number of methods have been proposed for face reconstruction from single/multiple image(s). However, it is still a challenge to do reconstruction for limited number of wild images, in which there exists complex different imaging conditions, various ...

Gravitational helicity interaction

open access: yes, 2005
For gravitational deflections of massless particles of given helicity from a classical rotating body, we describe the general relativity corrections to the geometric optics approximation.

Fast and accurate modelling of nonlinear pulse propagation in graded-index multimode fibers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We develop a model for the description of nonlinear pulse propagation in multimode optical fibers with a parabolic refractive index profile. It consists in a 1+1D generalized nonlinear Schr\"odinger equation with a periodic nonlinear coefficient, which ...

Fully controllable adiabatic geometric phase in nonlinear optics.

open access: yesOptics Express, 2018
We propose and analyze a new way for obtaining an adiabatic geometric phase for light, via the sum-frequency-generation nonlinear process. The state of light is represented by the complex amplitudes at two different optical frequencies, coupled by the ...
