Solving non-geometric problems with parameters by geometric methods

open access: yesActa et commentationes: Științe ale Educației
This article explores an innovative approach to geometrical methods to solve non-geometric problems involving parameters. We will highlight some fundamental concepts, applied geometric techniques and relevant examples that demonstrate the effectiveness of these methods.

Variable Stiffness Flexure Structures Enabled by Phase‐Change Gallium and Adhesive Interfacial Locking for Soft Robotic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A flexure‐based variable stiffness structure is developed by integrating phase‐change modulation and adhesive interfacial locking of gallium. The design enables a wide stiffness variability, transitioning from soft, flexible behavior to rigid, load‐supporting performance.

A geometric characterization of c-optimal designs for heteroscedastic regression [PDF]

open access: yes
We consider the common nonlinear regression model where the variance as well as the mean is a parametric function of the explanatory variables. The c-optimal design problem is investigated in the case when the parameters of both the mean and the variance

Analysis of the Influence of Rolling Modes on the Geometric Parameters of the Zone of Surface Plastic Deformation of a Part [PDF]

open access: yes
Structural strengthening of the surface layer material by surface plastic deformation ensures the formation of low roughness, a given depth and degree of hardening, and reduces residual compressive stresses in the surface layers.

Microstructural Evolution and Vacancy Defect Formation in Mn–Mo–Ni RPV Steel Under Low Cycle Fatigue: Insights From EBSD and PALS

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐cycle fatigue damage in Mn–Mo–Ni reactor pressure vessel steel is examined using a combined electron backscatter diffraction and positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy approach. The study correlates texture evolution, dislocation substructure development, and vacancy‐type defect formation across uniform, necked, and fracture regions, providing

HETEROGENEITY IN THE DEGREE OF QUASI-GEOMETRIC DISCOUNTING: THE DISTRIBUTIONAL IMPLICATIONS [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper modifies the standard one-sector growth model with uninsurable idiosyncratic risk and liquidity constraints to include multiple types of quasi-geometric consumers. For a calibrated version of the model, we show that a modest difference between

A Numerical–Experimental Approach for Multi‐Matrix Fiber‐Reinforced Plastics Characterization Using Finite Element Model Updating

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A numerical–experimental framework is developed for characterizing multi‐matrix fiber‐reinforced polymers (MM‐FRPs) combining epoxy and polyurethane matrices. Harmonic bending tests are integrated with finite element model updating (FEMU) to simultaneously identify elastic and viscoelastic material parameters.
