Quantum Adiabatic Pumping in Rashba- Dresselhaus-Aharonov-Bohm Interferometer

open access: yesEntropy, 2019
We investigate the quantum adiabatic pumping effect in an interferometer attached to two one-dimensional leads. The interferometer is subjected to an Aharonov-Bohm flux and Rashba-Dresselhaus spin-orbit interaction.

Geometric Phases for Mixed States during Cyclic Evolutions

open access: yes, 2004
The geometric phases of cyclic evolutions for mixed states are discussed in the framework of unitary evolution. A canonical one-form is defined whose line integral gives the geometric phase which is gauge invariant. It reduces to the Aharonov and Anandan

Evaluation of the Potential of Laser Shock Peening Compared with Cold Expansion for Improving Fatigue Resistance of Riveted Lap Joints of Aerospace Grade 7175 Al Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates laser shock peening for enhancing fatigue performance of riveted aerospace aluminum joints. A comparative approach with cold expansion combines fatigue testing and synchrotron X‐ray methods. Integrating mechanical testing with residual stress and strain characterization provides insights into how different treatments affect the ...

Single-shot phase-shifting on Michelson interferometry for incoherent digital holography

open access: yesETRI Journal
A single-shot phase-shifting method in incoherent digital holography (IDH) based on Michelson interferometry is proposed herein. The proposed method uses polarization-modulating optical elements and a polarization sensor in the Michelson interferometer ...

Geometric Phase Transitions

open access: yes, 1999
A model in statistical mechanics, characterised by the corresponding Gibbs measure, is a subset of the totality of probability distributions on the phase space. The shape of this subset, i.e., the geometry, then plays an important role in statistical analysis of the model.

Adaptable Tile‐Based Pneumatic Origami through Structurally Coupled Localized Actuation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents tile‐based pneumatic origami structures with rigid tiles and flexible fabric creases, achieving adaptable properties including morphing shape, selective multistability, and tunable stiffness. Independently pressurized folding bladders at each crease enable structurally coupled localized actuation of origami structures.

Topological Properties of Geometric Phases [PDF]

open access: yesProgress of Theoretical Physics Supplement, 2006
The level crossing problem and associated geometric terms are neatly formulated by using the second quantization technique both in the operator and path integral formulations. The analysis of geometric phases is then reduced to the familiar diagonalization of the Hamiltonian.
