Bayesian Tractography Using Geometric Shape Priors [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2017
The problem of estimating neuronal fiber tracts connecting different brain regions is important for various types of brain studies, including understanding brain functionality and diagnosing cognitive impairments.

Shape Sensitive Geometric Monitoring [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering, 2012
An important problem in distributed, dynamic databases is to continuously monitor the value of a function defined on the nodes, and check that it satisfies some threshold constraint. We introduce a monitoring method, based on a geometric interpretation of the problem, which enables to define local constraints at the nodes. It is guaranteed that as long

Effect of geometric shape of piston skirt on power loss in piston rod driving type bent-axis-type axial piston pump

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2021
The bent-axis-type axial piston pump is a type of positive-displacement machinery that is better equipped to solve environmental problems than the swash-plate-type piston pump.

Monotone Simultaneous Paths Embeddings in $\mathbb{R}^d$ [PDF]

open access: yesDiscrete Mathematics & Theoretical Computer Science, 2018
We study the following problem: Given $k$ paths that share the same vertex set, is there a simultaneous geometric embedding of these paths such that each individual drawing is monotone in some direction?

Lattice-based geometric shaping [PDF]

open access: yes2020 European Conference on Optical Communications (ECOC), 2020
Geometrically shaped multidimensional constellations with more than 1028 points are simulated using fast and low-complexity algorithms without any look-up tables to store the constellation points. At the same symbol error rate, more than 78% and 114% reach improvement are demonstrated compared with 4- and 16-QAM, respectively.

Geometric Aspects of Shape Optimization

open access: yesThe Journal of Geometric Analysis, 2023
AbstractWe present a review of known results in shape optimization from the point of view of Geometric Analysis. This paper is devoted to the mathematical aspects of the shape optimization theory. We focus on the theory of gradient flows of objective functions and their regularizations.

Asymmetrical interference effects between two-dimensional geometric shapes and their corresponding shape words. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Nativists have postulated fundamental geometric knowledge that predates linguistic and symbolic thought. Central to these claims is the proposal for an isolated cognitive system dedicated to processing geometric information.

Learning to Assemble Geometric Shapes

open access: yesProceedings of the Thirty-First International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence, 2022
Assembling parts into an object is a combinatorial problem that arises in a variety of contexts in the real world and involves numerous applications in science and engineering. Previous related work tackles limited cases with identical unit parts or jigsaw-style parts of textured shapes, which greatly mitigate combinatorial challenges of the problem ...
